You are right that is more like it. And they fight on Luna's moon but at the end instead of them turned into statues they would be in a crater beaten, bloodied, and completely drained only staring eye to eye with one another. Knowing that it will come down to this last round. They stand, ready to end it. Then....to be continued.

My visual of this is both of them with most of their armor gone, including their helmets, just staring at each other. Meanwhile, X, irys, gigan, and megalon are facing that thing that attacked aria since those four joined jr's side to fight bagan and xen, destroyah, Lea, angy, and rodan face ghidorah and the other kaiju who joined bagan. Basically a huge battle like the opening cutscene from MK: Armageddon.
