( Well, I have not read the book due to lack of time, but I know that Gaw is a legacy character, therefore when she dies, another Death Runner will grow to massive size and take her place, although it is not mentioned how long it takes. The one in the book was the one who killed Kong's parents when he was young. Adult Kong killed her, and took her head as a tropey. So the Gaw in this scenario is the next generation )

Apparently that is a general Death Runner trait. Her species seems to come in three flavours: There are Slashers, which are rather basic raptors, there are Death Runners, who intimite voices, use tools and command the Slashers, and then there is Gaw, who leads them all and is basically a Kong-sized death Runner.

Her creator, Joe DeVito has tried to make "Kong: King of Skull Island" into a movie for some time. Currently he is sueing Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, claiming that they have stolen pitch for a prequel for their upcoming "Kong: Skull Island" movie.

I guess a bit of a islander look might work for her human form. Skull Island is in the Indian Ocean after all, and Gaw was considered its Goddess before Kong killed her.
