I agree that playing Mother 2/EarthBound first is better, since MOTHER 3 sometimes references from that.

Well they put Lucas into Brawl (in Japan) because, yeah MOTHER is really popular there.

You never actually have a battle with it, but yeah if you run into it in the world then you die automatically. XD
