Description This is an adoptable that I won in an auction held by . The original concept and design are by her. DO NOT COPY, TRACE OR DUPLICATE THIS PIECE OF ART IN ANY WAY, FORM OR FASHION WITHOUT THE WRITTEN CONSENT OF BOTH MYSELF AND THE ARTIST.

Hyndis is a young blacksmith who works alongside his friends Sa'Bin and Presto at Sa'Bin's Smithery. Despite his age and extremely benign nature, his skills as a smith are actually quite formidable. Unfortunately, he is very gullible and easily manipulated. Couple that with his shyness and the sympathetic expression that almost always cloaks his face, he is quite the appealing target for thecon artists, pickpockets and thieves that slink throughout the alleyways of Dwi's Acomnus district.

Then... Why are posting this on dA?

dA makes it very clear that it is a site for uploading things that YOU drew/painted/sculpted/wrote/etc., not things that others created, even if you have their permission and link back to them.

Seriously, please respect the artist and take these down. I thought this was all your art, until I saw your comment.Β

Sorry if I sound really bitchy and everything, but not only are you breaking dA rules, but your being exctremely disrespectful to the original artist, posting their art under your name.

Also, look under the picture. It says: c Zerro. Just by posting something on dA, you are copyrighting (and therefor claiming) it as yours. Β

The ideas behind the character's design are my own. The backstory, the personality, setting, all of that was created by me when I bought the character. This intellectual property belongs to me, thus, you have NO RIGHT to tell me what to do with the item that I have bought with my own hard earned money.

I understand that you own the character, but dA is for posting your own art.Β

Where exactly does it say that?

What about people who "redesign" or vector an image?

Regardless, I have violated no laws, so I would appreciate it if you would stop harassing me.

I'm sorry you believe I'm harassing you. I obviously came off as very rude unintentionally, but what I'm really trying to say is this.

From what I've been reading on the the dA policies and rules and all that, you ARE violating dA rules by posting something that you didn't draw.

Here's what they saw in the 'Etiquette Policy', under 'Respect Your Fellow Artists':

As a vibrant and growing art community deviantART welcomes all kinds of original artworks; but weΒ MUSTΒ insist that the artwork which you submit be your own original works.

Seeing as you didn't draw this, it's not you original work, meaning you really shouldn't be posting it on dA.

Insist does not mean the same as require.

As I had expected, DA is an open community that allows for interpretation.

But now I'm curious, why is it that you decided to target me, of all the people here?

dA has made it very clear that you are only to post things of your original creation. A drawing with a stock photo as a background is your creation. A render is your creation, as you did the who removing of the background. A drawing of a character you bought by another artist isn't your creation.

I'm not targeting you, I'm just pointing out to you that what your doing is breaking dA rules, and is disrespectful to the artist.Β

I tell anyone who I see doing that this. Not just you

If that's all you have to say, I believe our conversation is at its end.

Have a good day.

Sorry about this.

But I have a question for you.

Why do you post pictures of the things you've commissioned, or the character that you bought when you didn't draw it?

Just curious.

Zerro In reply to Rainiila [2014-02-21 03:03:22 +0000 UTC]

This would have been an excellent why to start off our conversation, instead of being so aggressive.

Part 1: Well, unlike the thousands of others on this wensite, I don't want to clog up DA's mainframe with a bunch of half-assed crap (excuse my french). I can't draw; I KNOW and ACCEPT that fact; so why would I post just anything on here? There are too many "artists" here that simply don't put any time or effort into producing good artwork. Others spend the time but just don't have skill. Further still, there are some people who simply recolor famous characters or, worse, trace and pin it up on their profiles, proud as can be. To me, that's not art. It's not even worth someone's attention. But that's my particular view on it.

Part 2: Have you ever been to an art museum? Have you ever heard of the Lourve or the Smithsonian Institute? They are all buildings which hold some of mankind's most cherished and inspiring pieces of art.

Much like them, my gallery too is a collection of artwork from amazing talented artists, a fact that I make very clear on the top of my profile page. I make no claim to talent and I always make sure their is a link to the original artists' pages. In a way, you could say that I'm providing extra advertisement for the people who let me commission them, although that's not my true intention.

Sorry about that. And sorry for the late reply.

1.
that's definitely true. There's way to many amatuer's on here who just use the paint an to fill in a lineart, and then call it 'art'.

2.Β
Again, that's a very undastandable reason, but uploading the works to your gallery isn't the right way to do it. I'd suggest using your 'favourites' folder, because I'm pretty sure the favourites folder was designed for that: to sorta save deviations so you have easy access to them for future reference, and to give them more popularity because anyone who goes onto your page and selects 'favourites' will find them.Β

Another thing, which probably is the main reason why I do this is because of the unpredictability of the actual artist.

At any given time, the artist could decide that the $200 piece of art that I commissioned from them or the adopt that I dropped $500 for has been cluttering up their gallery long enough. So, they take it down. And that's there right to do so. But where does that leave me and my investment?
