Description
Edited : I should change my stand and switch side, because by being a pro-recast will let me grow up? Haha! I wonder who needs to grow up... see the comment made by this pro-recast, Sota Simppu below...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had been away for quite some time and only found out about the proBJDartists things recently. Well, as a BJD collector I feel I should stand up to support those sculptors who bought us joy in this hobby. Without them, my crews won't be here with me today. They deserve what we paid for their dolls. Though it is more expensive, but this is art. Recast is just like replica, worse it is not legit. To newcomers, I suggest saving up for the doll rather than getting a recast doll. Because I feel that buying a recast doll is an selfish act, benefiting ownself and hurting the BJD industry. So, say no to recast, get a 2nd hand BJD is still better.
I got my boys from each different company to broadcast the message.

Well spoken and I totally support PROBJDARTIST! All my dolls are legit and I would never even consider buying a recast. I really have to keep it short here or I'm gonna explode. I had some exhausting discussions with some Pro-Recast ppl lately and they are all the same. Whining about how expensive the hobby is ...blah. I have some news for these ppl : If you cannot afford it, it's NOT a hobby for you. Plain and simple. Over and Out...

Lol~ The pro-recasts probably only think for themselves, sadly. There is no moral or legal issue to talk about. So long, they benefit they don't care whatever so reasons. Therefore, reasoning with them is fruitless. They could give us any reason to cover their guilty self, but then they can't hide it from God.
One can run down whoever they want to, damage others in the likings of his own... I don't see a need to fight, because someone up there will judge.

I didn't even know that they MADE recasts... with as expensive as some of the BJD doll sites I've seen are I figured that everything was original and if you missed out on a particular style you were just out of luck... they're seriously just 'reprinting' the original casts?

Yes! They recreate the doll molds and sell them. It has becomes a serious threat to the official doll making companies. And these recast providers are reaping benefit based on the popularity of others' hardwork. Stopping them is difficult, since people still buy from them and they seem to operate in a country where the law of this kind is hard to get at them.

Recasts are bad, indeed.
Bootlegs in general, but I tend to think recasts and illegal reprints are the worst. Especially when they trick new buyers.
I don't usually hear about them in bjd community tbh. I've only personally seen ones of anime figure garage kits, that have been out of production for like a decade. and they usually look really bad too.
Yes, why buy recast when there is a large second-hand market? Two of mine are second hand and they are still so beautiful, and it felt good to give them a home. (plus they had some limited edition clothing that's been out of production since 2006. ah so happy to have~)

Yup! I keep figurines..but restrict to original for better mold and paint job. But a bootleg treated as original? I will pursue all the way, because that is cheating! Likewise, if I bought something not in the condition described at the sales.

Hellllo lovely guys <3
And yES! Agree to all the points :3
Even if I have to say the I only agree to recast when it comes to minimee-heads :3
Dunno if that then is called recast T^T...but well for minimees I do like those who make heads again if you can not fill up a group order for a special head...T_T *specially jrock minimees* Is that then recast? >,>
But for recast of company dolls I say NO!!!!!!!! NO and NOOOOO and NOOOO. Also recasts never have the same quality.
I but heard that some people got 2nd hand dolls that had been named to be legit and later found out that those dolls are recast :/
I feel so sorry for those guys because them got betrayed in two ways.
Wonder what them do with the dolls...I also feel sad for the dolls somehow...v__v
But i also dont hate people who have recasted dolls, because where hate can lead we daily see when we watch the news.
Hatred just leads to more hatred, instead of hate we should try to make ppl understand that the originals are better and that them should support the artists instead of treating recast-owners as withces (what baldy happens so often
We dont have to agree to their way of making their way with that hobby, but we should accept it and see how we can change their mind

True! I like your view on the hatred topic about the recast issue. Oh yes, i ever hear about 'legit' doll became recast doll. Can see that the recast thing has caused much problem.

Cheraldin In reply to Zetahadrian [2015-01-29 13:21:41 +0000 UTC]
Yeah it for sure does make problems.
To a certain point I can understand people who wish for recasts when it comes to limited dolls (like: only two in the world) or those who are not produced any longer for years.
But recasts of dolls that are still available...guess people then can save up the money.
It is not like them are super hyper expensive, and all dollshops offer lay away.
So guess everyone is able to get a legit doll.
Thank you for your nice words

Very True and well-said! It is a choice actually! Oh, I am half way through the questions. Sorry for taking long, I'm bad with my language but I want to make sure I didn't make grave grammatical error, at least. >,<

Yes, of course it is a choice!
But anyway I would not agree to recast of dolls that still are available on the legit sites
Dont worry dear^^
We have two very good editors, so you dont have to worry about grammar

oh Shiraga!
good on you for putting that point about new comers to the hobby in there. it's so easy to get confused when you're just starting. i know i was when i started out and i had to ask DA friends why some sites were selling the same doll for cheaper! since then i've had numerous people people new to the hobby ask me. knowing makes a difference so it's good you put it in your blurb.

You are right, especially for newcomers to the hobby. It is rather tempting for them to get bootlegs. Hope that they could get the right message that it is not encouraged to do so. Few years back, i saw a recast doll. I was pretty sure about it since i handled the real one (exact mold) before. The new owner didnt seem to know it was a recast. She got it from the 2nd market.

~ Yay totally agree with you !
No to recast! Besides to say that they are just copys~ it is illegal anyway to buy them.
Everyone should take care of each others work, i mean who would want their OC or photographes be stolen by some people.
And saying in a comment "ppl that buy real dolls and thats why it dosen't hurt markets" sounds pretty irrelevant, stealing is still the same ~
i Mean if someone stole ones Character and saying "you have SO many other characters so this wont be a bad thing if i copy one" seems also pretty bold to me - i guess you know what i want to say.
I think it is not the main reason (the market and all) why people dont' like recasts, i think the more important reason is also something about stealing art - and some people
fill up their pockets with art and work (Like concept or design) they didn't even got by themselves.
Saving up money for this hobby IS of a normal thing, 'cause as a matter of fact it is an expensive hobby.
I alway wonder that people feel so attacked when someone say's the "truth" about recast. I mean they all should
already know this and pretty aware of what they are doing. And that does not mean I (and sure all the others too) "Hate" people who buy recast's i mean seriously i don't even know them,
so how could i ever judge any of them. In general just saying all the facts about rescast and stealing Art.
Btw i love the pic ^^ hihi

Thank you, Yureya! Really nice to hear your opinion about the recast issue. I also totally agreed with you on the OC too. Sometimes, OC can be stolen on the personality or the image. It is not hard to tell actually. But, i felt exceptional sad if the person who did it, is someone close.

Why hate recast ??? are you guys dumb ? i think recast are ok. it's not nice to hate ppl that cant afford real BJD's i think if you support this hobby you should be ok with recast and there are many many many ! ppl that buy real dolls and thats why it dosen't hurt markets... so GROW UP !! SUPPORT RECAST !!

Zetahadrian In reply to SotaSimppu [2015-01-27 01:25:42 +0000 UTC]
Very simple. Recast on artists' works without their approval is art theft. To buy a recast doll is as good as buying stolen/ illegal goods. And by buying these stolen goods, one is promoting more art theft. If you don't find that this is a wrong act, there is nothing I can explain to let you understand. But for sure, I don't hate recast owners. I just hope that they will realise one day that they are damaging the bjd industry.
Sorry, it is really selfish to think that others are buying from the official companies and so I can tap on the recast market for a cheap deal, without giving much consideration to the poor artist who worked hard to create that piece of artwork. Also, not all bjd owners are rich and can afford the hobby too. They save up, give up many other things and go earn extra income for their dolls. They didn't choose recast. They decided to take the proper path and these are the doll owners I really admire from the bottom of my heart.
