The islanders' legends indicate Mothra was sent by Mother Mothra herself and created in her likeness, serving as the connection between the Kaiju and all other life on Earth. As such, Mothra is noted for her distinct cordial relationship with humans, notably the Shobijin and islanders, and can be fiercely protective of them at times. Mothra is notable in that her spirit is reincarnated every century, being reborn into her own offspring each time.
