One of the most powerful of Mother Mothra's Earth Guardians, Godzilla is a kaiju of unmatched brute animalistic force. Alongside the others of the Alpha Guardians faction, Godzilla defended the Earth against the forces of God Ghidorah during the Million Years War. Due to the turning tides of the war, Mother Mothra forced the Earth Guardians into an extended hibernation. According to Odo Island legend however, Godzilla held a hatred towards humans after the Million Years War, and throughout ancient times would terrorize those who angered him. Many years later, Godzilla was awakened and mutated by mankind's nuclear tests in 1954, scarring his appearance and giving him the weapon of atomic breath; he laid waste to Tokyo in anger. Godzilla was thought to have been killed therafter by the superweapon known as the Oxygen Destroyer, however he seemingly revived and reemerged many times in remote locations around the world, evading any and all capture and extermination attempts.
