Hanamimi - Dandelion

🌼Personality🌼

Being the first hanamimi in the garden where he was born, Dan was considered to be the "big brother". Therefore, he tries to set a good example to the younglings by showing courage and determination, always giving his best to protect his peers and territory. He also won't hesitate to lend a hand and always be responsible of what he does. But on the other side, being looked up to and relied on a lot, Dan becomes quite proud and valuing himself a bit too much. His overestimation of himself often makes him thinks he knows better than others, and rarely listens to criticism.

His pride also tells him to keep cool and collected in any situation, since panic will cloud his judgement and ruin his image. So he tries to suppress his emotion, and ends up being a person who doesn't truly reveals his feeling instead. As a result, at first Dan may look to be a distant person as he rarely talks about himself, and also can't honestly admit when he gets excited. But, actually he's not as withdrawn as he looks. Dan likes to mingle with others and doesn't shy away from strangers. It's not likely that he will initiate a small chit-chat, but he won't turn away people who starts it.

The story started with a man who bought a small house with a huge garden. The man loved tea and he had three rabbit pets, and he decided to open a rabbit teahouse. The man wanted to grow his tea ingredients in the vast garden, but sadly he didn't know where to start as the garden was really a mess when he purchased the house. Until his friend visited him and decided to help tending the garden. The friend loved flowers and had beautiful garden, to the point several hanamimis appeared at her place. So, during the weekends, the friend would bring her hanamimis to help the man with his garden.

One day, a seed of dandelion was blown from outside the walls into the corner of the garden. Upon noticing the sproutling, the man intended to remove it as he read that dandelions could disturb the growth of other flowers. But his friend told him to keep it, because it could be used as tea or rabbit food. Therefore, the man moved it to a pot and cared for it as much as he took care of the other seeds he planted. And when the flowers came to bloom, Dan was born. Dan then helped the man to tend his garden, attempting to grow the best flowers and herbs so they could serve the best tea. And with their effort of pouring all their love to the garden, more hanamimis were born over the years.

With the army of hanamimis growing the best tea ingredients and cute rabbits accompanying the customers, the teahouse became successful. Everyone lived happily....for a while.

As time went by, the man noticed that no matter what Dan was doing, he would pause it just to see the dandelions set off with the wind. Then, the man thought that maybe just like the flower he was born from, Dan might have to leave the place he was born in and go out to the world until he found the perfect place to settle in. That's how his flower came into the garden to start with. So, he gave his blessing for Dan to start his own journey. On the next summer, Dan followed the little puffs as they were carried away by the wind.

During his journey, he made a stop in other towns where the seeds landed. And when he saw other dandelions flew away, he took it as a sign to continue his adventure. On and on he went, until the last dandelion he followed was blown onto a harbor. There, he found out about a ship that sailed to a place called Dandelion Road. Dan didn't know anything about the place, but from the name....he had the feeling he just had to go there.
