This is an advanced layer tutorial. It will teach you how to use photoshop layers, the advanced way. If you are still basic inside photoshop i suggest you take some basic tutorials first.
excuse for the confusing guide, but deviantart didn't let me load images bigger than 10080x10080 pixels so i needed to
crop it up a bit.

This is a great tutorial and thank you for uploading it. I've been trying to figure out how to color greyscale drawings for a while but no one could tell me. Also, all the layer tutorials seem to be the exact same thing so yours is an especially fresh breath of air.

Excellent! And I want to mention that I love how you organize your tutorial -top to botton, left to right- I prefer this format, is easier to roll than going left-right all the time. It was excellent how you explained the color, multiply, overlay and hue modes, I haven't understand them clearly before reading this

nice tutorial, but next time go from left to right, top to bottom. not top to bottom, left to right. its too big of a file.

Sorry about that, it was an unforeseen turn of events. The original image was way bigger in one straight line from top to bottom, but I didn't knew there was a pixel limit <_<

euhm its like a second layer aside of the layer you are using. Everything you draw black on the layer will disappear (just like an eraser). But everything you draw white will reappear. This is the benefit of this function. You can get back what you 'erased' because you didn't erased it, you only hid it under a mask. I hope that makes sense

Whoops! Saved this to the wrong folder. It should be in the tutorials thing. (In case you're not a fan of yaoi, which is the file that I saved it to by mistake, it's right next to it)
This is a very good tutorial! I'm only a beginner, so it was confusing. I still mannaged to learn a few things!
