For 's cultural food contest, countries depicted with their respective cultural food.

Thanks to everyone who (unknowingly) participated in this by commenting on my latest journal, [link] even if I haven't used your suggestions yet (!!) due to lack of time or characterdesigns . This piece is, in a way, an interactive collaboration, which would never work without you!<3

My goal is that it eventually feautures all the world's countries (or at least Hetalia versions).
So if you don't see your country here or feel that it severely lacks edible surrounding (each country shoul have around 2-3), please feel free to make suggestions in my journal! Spain, Poland and South Korea are already drawn, though.

Same goes to pointing out mistakes of any kind! I am always happy about constructive feedback. Just listing what is/looks wrong is helpful, too.

My apologies to those still waiting for their commissions. They are currently in the making, I just didn't want to let what I had previously worked out for this contest go to waste.

Now, as for the countries; their cultural foods and the suggestors (from left to right);
Hong Kong, jellyfish, brisket soup noodle and eggettes ( ~freefallcrash )
China; hot pot, ( *BubblyShoot and ~xVioloncello ) tangyuan, ( ~Cuteniao ) and 'gold cake' ( ~xVioloncello )
Russia; red borsch (me :> ), kolbasa ( ~AmWatchingYou ) and pirogi ( ~clpony7 )
Canada; poutine, ( *girlyanimegal , ~MutantCanuck ) tourtière ( ~TheRoyalPurple-kat ) and Nanaimo Bars ( ~MintOfHint )
USA; Burger ( ~Agape-miseo , ~HenorkianWoman , ~Cool-Violeta , ~sneakolai , ~TopazRaven , ~VargasChild , ~XiaNumber14 , ~clpony7 , ~kumoi-no-hikari , ~one-wif-russia ).
Now this was a tricky one.
Since DA (like the English speaking internet in general) mainly consists of Americans most of the suggestions were American as well. In fact I got so many (really good!) suggestions that I didn't see any fair and appropriate way of choosing. Two foods and one general impression was prominent, though, and these were barbecue and burgers, as well as suggestions of food that was not American (No offence, but the line "Nothing gets more American than Beer and Pizza" is pure gold) or questioning wether there's any cultural food at all. Of course there is, I know, the USA may be young, but not that young, mind you.
At any rate, barbecue, in fact, comes from Southern America. (Sorry for any possibly crushed worlds). I found it oddly fitting to place that burger, "New Yorks gift to world's cusine", there, a food of both fairly ambigous origin and quite a symbol for American and international cusine.
Also everyone likes pizza.
Southern and Northern Italy; pizza caprese ( ~PandaYuki ), Parmigiana( ~elphin98 ), piadina romagnola ( AhhhhhhhhahaI'manidiot ), polenta and Trenette al pesto ( both ~PandaYuki )
Germany; bratwurst( ~Nelo123 , ~KanashiiGirl , indirectly =Luane-Silverwing ), Kartoffelsalat ( ~EneCola , ~Nelo123 ), beer ( ~KanashiiGirl ) and Weißwuarscht ( ~Kuraikos-kanjo , ~Nelo123 ) (personally I picture him thinking "but I'm already enjoying it as hard as I can ARRRGH" )
England, "(universal gasp about British+English in particular food)" (~drops-of-rainn ) ; Chicken tikka masala- British Curry( ~123etcetera ), Fish and Chips ( =gaarakamaru ) and Yorkshire Puddings (~drops-of-rainn ). All of which seem positively edible in my humble opinion.
