Looking back through my work over the last few months I came across [link] - Twilight Conflict. I really enjoyed working on this picture at the time, but having looked at it again several things started to bug me. Mainly that I had cut corners on my original idea. So after digging out the thumbnails and test renders I decided to give it another shot.It's much closer to what I wanted now, showing the battle between two equally matched foes, a Fire Dragon and its arch rival the Frost Dragon.
Ok, so I know Im about to get seriously flamed about what Fire Dragons and Frost Dragons should actually look like blah blah blah, but this is MY interpretation of it
I suspect that there will be a TC.III someday soon as I want to replace the rendered dragons with hand drawn ones. But that'll have to wait for now...

I love this piece a lot, and prefer it to the one posted right after, i think that although the pieces are most amaizing in the details, the overall composition is important too, and i think simplicity works great here. thanks for sharing this fantastic work!

I agree with oni-lis> It does need something in the background if not to indicate size but just to anchor the piece. Doesn't have to be much at all.

Well, I won't be one to flame. I'm happier with dragons being something mystical to me, rather than knowing all the ins and outs of the various species and stuff - although it would be interesting to read and I'd most likely find it facinating. Actually I'm kind of a contratiction on that part - I'd love to delve into the histories and races of the various dragons in several literary workings, heheh ^_^
I like the yin yang effect that you have in place, with the equally matched foes - a good concept, and with dragons its even better
I look forward to seeing version 3 someday, but it might be a way off - I know how much of a bitch it is to draw dragons - they are *so* hard

Just a beautiful piece all round. The Fire on the dragon body is a brilliant stroke, but what strikes me right away is the overall lighting.

Very nice render...I'm personally more partial to your hand-drawn works, but this has so much texture and personality to it that I like it quite a lot all the same. Lovely work! ^^

I ment to write down some thoughts when I faved, but I'll just do it now
- I love dragons and your style here is superb. I love the colors, the detail, and the ying-yang pose going on! I love how the fire dragon has the flame-englufed wings going on but I think the ice dragon could have benefitted from some blue/icy mist around his/her wings. Know what I'm saying?
Also perhaps something in the background to indicate the size of each dragon. Right now they could be the size of a car, the size of a mountin, or the size of an ice cube 
Perhaps a mountin top in the background, or something to that affect.. Maybe a castle?

yeah, I agree about the Frost Dragon, I tried it and added ice and snow and stuff coming off it but I wasn't 100% sure of myself, so I took it off in favour of keeping him simple. I think I might try that again, I need to learn new skills so its about time i wrestled with snow and ice
I did have a concern about the scale, I'm gonna rework the scene I think and do version III with some major adjustments.
