OMGOSH my first digitally colored picture in forever! The other colored picture I uploaded of Jokka and Tikka was made entirely on the computer. This was a sketch that I adapted..and boy did it take me awhile a couple hours in photoshop for the win! XDDD I really enjoyed working on it though so no problem! ~_^--b

I've always loved the split screen look to pictures! I was originally planning on only drawing Isa like this, but then I was like WELL I CAN'T LEAVE OUT DEIN and I decided to make this split screen picture. It's also worth note that I attempted some shading on this pic, but it's minimal XD A for effort! Fonts used are 'Matisse ITC' and 'Smudger LET'.

Kill Mode is something that I created inside the Invader Zim universe for the Irkens. It's sort've like an Irken power up. The idea behind this is that it's an upgrade given to the Irken elite. A device is implanted directly attached to the brain of the subject and it helps them to harness their rage and killing instinct, becoming ruthless in battle.

In Dein's case he was an unwilling subject for this new technology. He was in an unfortunate training accident that rendered him immobile and in a coma for several months, even with Irken technology helping along his natural regeneration process. The Kill Mode implant was brand new at the time and untested, so the Tallest, who really hate Dein, decided to use him as a guinea pig for their new technology. Dein is the prototype of the Kill Mode Technology and he never knew he even had it in him until he came to earth several years later and it was accidentally triggered. The trigger is anger that gets out of control, and that usually doesn't happen to Dein. It wasn't very pretty and he was quite emo after finding out about it.

As for Isa, she was the first one to sign up for the Kill Mode once it became available to all of the Irken Elite. Back in the Irken military she was obsessed with power and becoming stronger and better to make up for the fact that she wasn't as tall as Dein. They'd always been rivals, at least Isa saw it that way, and she was also secretly in love with Dein. Dein, much like his mother (me XD) is a late bloomer and way too dense to see that Isa loved him. Both of them are now in relationships with other people and quite happy although they do have their fair share of drama XD

Isa has actually had her Kill Mode upgraded so that she can achieve two different levels. The second level is only used in extreme circumstances and I've only had her use it once so far. The only weak spot for an Irken during Kill Mode is the tender area around and under their PAK. Dein's prototype version, although quite deadly when active, has a 15 minute power up/warm up time where his roboticized voices gives a count of what percentage he's at. Isa's Kill Mode is effective immediately as soon as she triggers it.

The feeling I wanted to convey in this picture was the way they typically act in Kill mode. Dein becomes totally unaware of what he's doing. He goes into a blackened trance where his emotions completely take over and he's extremely robotic. I hoped he would look this way into the picture, like a robot. Head trauma and Jaz are about the only things that will knock him out of Kill Mode. Isa is completely lucid during kill mode and is the only known Irken that possesses this ability. Rather than it being triggered by something, she triggers it herself and can turn it on and off at will. As you can see she's very angry in this picture, angry enough to use her power up. XD Bad Isa bad!
