I do actually, but not on commissioned pieces, because I think it's extremely rude.
I personnally enjoy critics, and I encourage it most of the time, take a look at the rest of my gallery, but I wouldn't want someone who PAID for the pic to pass by and read comments explaining how crappy the (his) concept or poor my rendition is. It can be very small details, but enough to ruin a picture in his eyes, and I don't think it's nice, which my initial comment, I think, explained ^_^

I think that with the dark background you'll be okay-- especially if you put a white border around their bodies. Their clothing and coloring are light enough that it'll probably work! I'd go very, very minimal with the bg, though... Heheh.
They're really, really lovely. I like their faces and the shine on their costumes. You did a GREAT job.
