I didn't think there was any kind of rule on that (nor did I think it mattered as long as the final image was visible). I've seen a few others post their results in black and white.
If the people in charge of the competition want me to post the colored version, though, I will.

Probably helps stop people from stealing your finished version and uploading that as their own.
