Description
"Board is four silver a night, plus an extra two up front for the stables. Give me a moment to sort these here, we'll talk some more inside."
Please allow me to introduce Katherine, or just Kat for short. Another character from the ol' tabletop setting previously mentioned. I've been rather busy with life, so haven't been able to draw as much as I'd like. There's more I could do with this one, namely shading, adding bits and fixing others (aaah! I hate doing haaands) here and there. But I've spent longer than I'd like on this one already and I cant really be bothered.
Anyways, here's a bit of backstory for Kat, abridged version.
Even from a young age, Katherine was drawn to the sword. She was always playing soldiers with the other boys and would frequently come home covered in scrapes and bruises, always accompanied by an ear to ear smile. This bewildered both her parents, of course, but her mother would smile along with her daughter. She too had had a wild streak as a child. Katherine grew to be much taller than the other girls, and a great many of the boys too. This earned her some teasing of course, but a few bloodied noses soon put a stop to that.
King Lorin's war began shortly after she turned seventeen, and was eager to sign up. She learned quickly and soon rose through the ranks to make sergeant. It was there in the army that she first me Tai. Despite her skill as a warrior, or perhaps because of it, Katherine was a frequent visitor to the medical tents. She always seemed to manage to acquire handfuls of fresh injuries after every battle, though luckily never anything grievous. After the war, she traveled through the lands selling her sword arm. Mostly she took on guard work; caravans, restless nobles and the like, but she'd take on the odd bounty contract here and there when she found herself especially short of coin. Now, Katherine runs the Horseshoe inn and tavern with her husband Roy, and daughter Lilly. The place itself sits in a small hamlet around a major crossroads. To call it a hamlet might be generous, there's hardly more than a handful of buildings all told. The inn for one, plus the run down chapel down the road a little ways, and the apothecary across the street. Tai runs said apothecary, in fact it was because of him that she first met Roy. Katherine would pass through Tai's shop frequently on business, and would invariably end up staying at the Inn, which Roy worked with his father and mother. She and him married scarcely a year after first meeting, and had Lilly not long after that. Kat and Roy have been happily together for almost twenty years now, and she cherishes every day.
