Ice Queen call her forces and precious four Windigos. It is time for Last Judgment and the new day of her rule the world.
The concept of windigos is referencing toThe Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse : War ( Armored one ), Famine ( At bottom ), Pestilence and Death ( With wings ). I think those chaotic spirits fits perfectly to Four Horsemen ( [link] ). Just watch an episode ( Hearth's Warming Eve - [link] ).

This is marvellous. You are a fabolous painter, your works are full of energy and magic. It's incredible of it's possible to do these art pieces about a pony cartoon. And this is why I love the fandom.

Conquest is one of the Horsemen in the original myth. Pestilence replaces Conquest in a second interpretation, and is more widely known in pop culture, to the point where most people haven't even heard of Conquest as a Horseman of the Apocalypse.

what if (just thinkin) Celestia and Luna had cousins, responsible for the seasons (being summer and winter, autumn and spring being the start of the respective season). It would make total sens, since the windigos were responsible for the winter in hearts warming eve and ghostmare has an army made of ice. And more importantly, she was imprisoned in ice, the essence of winter. Just as nightmare moon was imprisoned in the moon (the essence of the night). But that leaves the question: where is the entity responsible for summer and spring, and what is the 'essence' of summer? Is it maybe the sun itself? But the sun would already be the essence of the day, so that is out of question. Maybe someone else has an idea?

....but what about Spring and Autumn? Maybe those are like dawn and dusk, when Winter is slowly changing into Summer and vice versa.
And then there is Cadence(deity of love?). I'm guessing that the essence of love might be the Crystal Hearth...but then who is the deity of hatred? Sombra? He has been imprisoned in the ice of the arctic, so, dose that mean that ice is the essence of hatred as well? Or dose it symbolize the coldness of hatred?
...no sombra can't be the deity of hatred(no alicorn)! But, who then?
...now that I think about it, hatred can't be the opposite of love, since Sun, Moon, Summer, Winter and Love are not bad, but Hatred is.
So, what is the opposite of love, without being bad?

So.... why did the Ice Queen need to (for lack of better term or understanding) steal Carrot Top's form to take over the world? Was she not physically more powerful as an alicorn-esque mare?

She needs a mortal body to get out of her prison. Where Derpy and Carrot Top met her in that building (part 2), the Ice Queen couldn't get out from where. Thank you for kind words.

I really love the style of the Ice giant in the background, as well as those windigoes of the apocalypse. I can't help but recall the Norse myths of the frost giants. All the merits of this artwork are awesome, but I can't help but wonder how having Carrot Top enables the ice queen to take over the world...

Problem: the True four horsemen are actually: War, Famine, CONQUEST, and Death

I've never heard of a horseman being representative of conquest... And I don't see conquest as being something that brings about the end of the world, pestilence seems much more fitting.
Where have you seen Conquest as one of the four horseman?
