Does this work on Xiaomi Mi3 with KitKat Miui Dev versions (ex. 4.5.30)?

Is there a way to change back to the old status bar? the 4.4.16 doesn't have it.

you gave one star rating on xiaomi market just because you don't like the new wallpaper [while you can change it in a few steps].
the whole theme is composed by TONS of icons and clean UI modifications, which I presume you use.
it has no sense.

I'm not sure about that but I've already re-rated it with 5 stars, now I'm using "Modern II" and "Flat UI" and yours. I used your theme for a long time, sorry for trouble .

I'm trying to make my own versions of your icons with my own resources but they don't look as yours, they look too plane, do you got a template that you can share?. Here is an example: bit.ly/1nZVUpl , bit.ly/1nZWBz8 or bit.ly/1nZWTpF . Actually I use one fo your templates in en.miui.com.

install WSM tools and Mi-Tools scripts, then configure it.
there is a dedicated thread on MIUI international forum, en.miui.com

hey this looks clean and beautiful! but I don't really understand by which firmware or smartphone this is supported? does it run on any android phone?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zipalign In reply to harritor [2013-12-15 22:22:43 +0000 UTC]

it does run on any android phone with MIUI ROM installed.

for further infos, check the official site .

harritor In reply to zipalign [2013-12-16 22:37:24 +0000 UTC]

damn this makes me want to get an android phone

how ressource intensive is this ROM though? i had experience with my old jailbreaked iphone, where winterboard (for skins) would use much RAM (and therefor power).

and does this overhaul the "play music" app as well? because the default music app gui looks kinda frustrating to me.

thank you for your patience, i hope you can bare with me Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zipalign In reply to harritor [2013-12-17 22:39:43 +0000 UTC]

this ROM is smooth and fast on xiaomi phones. it is optimized as best as developers can do on other phones..
I think that stock android OS is the best for all phones, but MIUI runs great on high-end phones like SGS4, HTC one, or similar.

I had an HTC Sensation XE with MIUI running, but its performances were nothing compared to my actual Xiaomi Mi2, which runs MIUI by default [even hardware is much better].

music player, calendar, gallery, dialer and many other things are skinned in MIUI style on MIUI ROMs, and differ very much from stock android OS.

I'd advice you watching this short sample about MIUI V5 features: link .

let me know what you think (:

p.s.:

you can grab a Xiaomi Mi2 for almost 260€ now. and Xiaomi Mi3 [new flagship model] is about to be released in WCDMA version, which is compatible with european 3G radio bands.

harritor In reply to zipalign [2013-12-20 18:48:08 +0000 UTC]

yeah, the MIUI GUI looks super clean. not really convinced by the music app though. i hope someone supplied a alternative skin for that. i looked into the ROMs for the HTC One. those don't really seem to be updated that frequently, do they? why are there actually so many different versions of the ROM. is it not possible to just use one ROM for ALL android smartphones?

but overall its a huge elegance boost compared to the vanilla android in my opinion.

its shame though, that those Xiaomi phones aren't yet available in Germany

zipalign In reply to harritor [2013-12-21 16:32:30 +0000 UTC]

If we had stock google android on every android phone, there won't be any difference buying a samsung, a LG, a sony or an HTC..

every OEM customizes his phones' OS with their custom UIs, like touchwiz for samsung, sense for HTC, emotion UI for huawei, etc..

MIUI is che custom UI for xiaomi phones, based on android OS.

the best part in buying an android phone, instead of an apple one, is Β that you have more choices to point to. and customization of your own device is not so hard like you can do on iOS.

xiaomi phones aren't available outside china, but you can safely buy one from a safe online shop, ibuygou.com has a partnership with international MIUI forum.

hey, i finally bought a Mi2s ^^
it's one gorgeous piece of hardware, sigh
anyways, could you possibly point me to some useful sites regarding MIUI? i'm kinda lost and don't know where to begin Β
i need a guide on how to do a clean flash with a native german/english MIUI. which apps are useful, which i should get rid of.
what mistakes should i watch out for? got any tips, where i can get more information for beginners? Β

en.miui.com is a great site, full of informations and customization tips.

I'd suggest you to point to miuiandroid.com first, BTW. that site provides weekly releases optimized for non-chinese users.

only mistake you wouldn't do: flash rom not for mi2 [aries].

for anything else, google is your friend (:

yo, which of the 2 files in the mediafire folder is the right one to download? One is 48MB, the other one is 36MB (which says "for 2.3"). How do i use a .mtz anyways? Is it a package, which i can edit and use parts of, or can i only use it as a whole?

When flashing to the ROM from MIUI Germany, the clock widget on the first screen got lost.. any idea how to get it back (preferrably centered)?

Thanks for your help!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zipalign In reply to harritor [2014-02-09 01:21:40 +0000 UTC]

download the bigger one from mediafire, then move in onto your phone.

then open themes app > local > menu key > import from SD card > choose the .mtz file you previously moved.

then you have my theme installed.

if you apply it, you'll also have a centered widget clock on your homescreen.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

harritor In reply to zipalign [2014-02-09 20:53:20 +0000 UTC]

I did exactly that, but when I hit apply theme, it says the following: "Themes from third-party sources are not supported - error: download|auth rejected -99" (originally in german, but I translated it)
It instead refers me to a new page, where I can register a Xiaomi account.
I also checked the security tab in the settings; there is a check at allowing apps from unknown sources to install (just in case that could have been the problem, but it seems not..).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zipalign In reply to harritor [2014-02-10 00:21:49 +0000 UTC]

you can install the online version, which is updated the same as the one on mediafire.

you have two ways to do it:

1. point to this page: link , ensure you're logged in with your xiaomi credentials, and click on the green button on top left [even if it's in chinese language, it pushes the installation prompt onto your phone]

2. open theme app from your mi2s, search for "v5 extended" and install it as you'd do with any other theme.

let me know if it works now (:

harritor In reply to zipalign [2014-02-10 15:01:36 +0000 UTC]

Hey thanks, yup this time it worked, when i downloaded and installed it via the Theme app. But why would MIUI not install it the other way? What was the problem? Will this occur with any other theme i try to install myself?
I also noticed that your theme contains files within the "fancy_icons" folder. What exactly does the theme change here? because the included png files for the calender, clock, compass, weather BZ app, etc. are the same as the stock ones? Does this serve any purpose? i feel like those files are somewhat redundant, or am I wrong on this one? Anyways awesome job on the theme, looks marvellous!Β

zipalign In reply to harritor [2014-02-10 18:43:41 +0000 UTC]

new xiaomi policy states that every .mtz file imported to the phone will be checked and approved/rejected.

the one and only way it can be accepted is that the same theme is available online, otherwise it will output an error.

if you were trying to import my V5_extended theme, it's quite odd you received that error.

but now that you have the theme installed from the app, it will update automatically everytime I'll add a new version online. all you'll have to do is accept the update prompt from theme app.

if you need to install other themes via .mtz file, install WSM Tools , and install the framework [instructions provided on linked thread].

fancy_icons folder contains the elements needed from dynamic icons.

calendar, weather, netmonitor, recorder, etc..

without them, you'd have a theme with static icons only.

dynamic icons only work in MIUI V5.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

harritor In reply to zipalign [2014-02-10 19:47:09 +0000 UTC]

But the stock version of those apps are already dynamic. And your theme, as far as I saw, doesn't change the appereance of them (weather, clock, calender, etc.). So why include the same files in the theme, when they are already existant in the stock version? I thought only stuff that is supposed to be changed with a theme, is included in a .mtz-file. The rest will remain unchanged (yes/no?). Do you happen to have a .psd-file for download, so we can add our own icons? Would be very much appreciated

for the .PSD template, you can point to the official thread on international MIUI forum.

in stock MIUI there are not present all the dynamic icons I added into my V5_extended.
