Well, just for the sake of making it easier for me to create a world I wrote some small pieces of fanfic homeworld lore and one of it was basically that there is a goddess, who represents the fate of being shattered. Kinda like dying isn't inevtiable for gems but still is a possiblity, so the goddess represents the fear of being broken.
