Description This started off as a remake of my movie poster project, ended up turning into Tenchi fanart. I guess you could blame Washu if you want to put a story on this. Though, I think Ryoko is too big for Tenchi to be of any use for her.

Something tells me I'm going to regret this.

EDIT: Tried to fix the face, trying some new things. Hope its not as creepy.
EDIT: Ok, maybe I was wrong.
EDIT: Some minor tweaks that make it a whole lot easier on the eyes for me.

"You are going to get an antidote, right Ryoko?"
"I dunno, Tenchi.... I kinda like having you in the palm of my hand."

Then you need a dirtier imagination.

You're an extremely talented colorist, and it shows here. That's a VERY lovely background there.

I've never seen Tenchi at all, so I'm not really qualified to render judgements based on the situation and how the characters would logically behave in a situation like this; that said, it is a straight-shot pretty picture.

(Prettiness is good. We must acknowledge the pretty and give it lots of squishy hugs.)

She's got a spooky look on her face...or possibly stoned. Maybe sizeshifting causes a temporary blood loss to the brain?

Nature landscapes are something I think I''m (no pun intended) naturally "good" at. I managed to get a good style at them without even trying.

Within the main Tenchi canon, Washu is capable of almost any imaginable scenario occurring, comes with being a mad scientist/GOD.

The face has been stupidly uphill battle. I started with the intention of realistically attempting the face, but that looked wrong, this looks slightly better, but as you said, "spooky".

'A mad scientist/GOD'? Sounds like a high-Inspiration Genius. Heaven help us all if she goes Illuminated. (My apologizes if you've never heard of Genius: The Transgression and miss the in-jokes. Although Illuminated are less funny and more like what happens when you mix Josef Mengele/Nikola Tesla and add Hi-Octane Nightmare Fuel. Yes, that somehow makes it WORSE.)

What sort of program do you use for your pictures?

I have not, sounds frightening.

I use Photoshop.

Genuis is both awesome and frightening; it's a fan-made splat book made for the tabletop RPG World of Darkness. The titular Geniuses are people touched by the force of Inspiration, pure idea and creativity that makes them into wondermaking entities of legends...but also eroding their humanity, stripping away social mores and worse. To contrast this, they feel Obligation to their fellow humanity, but Geniuses often have their humanity burned away by the light of Inspiration, making them into monsters.

Sometimes, a Genius succumbs to his madness, becoming Unmada; a state where the Genuis' perception of reality is twisted, all he sees and experiences twists to suit his beliefs and prejudices. And TWENTY PERCENT of all geniuses succumb to a worse fate; becoming one of the Illuminated. Think of every evil mad scientist cliche you can think of. Think of the most monstrous real life 'science demons'. Make them WORSE. And you have a sampling of the Illuminated.

(It's also a ridiculously awesome game and springboard for thousands of ideas. They have an excellent entry on TVTropes. There's not many other games where you can go back in time to kill Hitler with a Death Star piloted by a robot gorilla-plant thing only to have time police arrest you and yell at you for a bit before revealing that they just clone him anyway, they've had quite enough of people taking the Inglourious Basterds route.)

Really? I thought you used Photoshop, but figured it would be presumptious to say so. Makes sense, as nice as your pictures look. I use the GIMP, myself.

I've poked a little at GIMP, its a bit obtuse to me coming from photoshop, but thats probably because of how accustomed I am to PS features and shortcuts.

Don't assume that a piece would look any better since its done in Photoshop either, I have a friend whose colors are completely gorgeous (way better than mine) and she does all her coloring in GIMP, and with a mouse at that.

Hrm, you raise a good point. I actually DID use a version of Photoshop a while back when I had a tablet, but I never figured it out and it froze up later.

Proper coloring (at least when it comes to shading and such) is something that I've never even tried, but I figure I have a duty to make the effort. Can you recommend any decent tutorials to help?

Zippedbinders In reply to twitchystitch [2010-10-17 07:06:40 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I couldn't tell ya about a good coloring tutorial, I haven't found one yet that really helped me in a way I could follow. I just try to look at the artists I like looking at and gleam whatever information I can from those.
