HA figured it out for photoshop. 

when saving the file, i have a dropdown under the name of the file saying 'all files' other wise it calls it a psd file and you cant get away from it.

click on the drop down file txt 'all files' THEN change the name of the file to add .pat at the end adn it turns into a pat file for photoshop.

hope that makes sense for everyone!

ive tried changing the psd to .pat but of course that doesnt work. is it not meant to work as a pattern?
