Damn fine shot, old boy....you've really managed to squeeze every morsel of grunge and backlane filth here that you could, I can even smell the fish heads...Great atmosphere.

such a wonderful place! i'd live there if it weren't for the trash cans.
seriously though, the green tint adds to the hotness too.
Critique? bah. um have you taken any vertical photos of the place? If you compose it right, i think the verticality would be drawing you into the picture more, as compared to right now just being stretched out in front of you like a curtain. (unless that's what you were going for lol). the border comment has already been made - and yeah for this one, a border would be great. (i think this is the first ever kind-of "constructive" comment i've ever posted for you. I feel like i'm turning into henry... lol)

Zlatty In reply to lie-eltae [2005-02-24 22:06:20 +0000 UTC]

there was a jeep parked in the ally, so i had to work around out, so that damn car threw off my symetry and portrait-y ....
lol, im going to update all of my deviations with a border sometime soon, i want to offer all of my deviations at bigger sizes ...
thanks for taking the time to actually critique
you know you liked it

Very cool Looks like it could be a scene from a dodgey matrix ripoff haha Love the green tint. For critique... i think it needs a border to finish it off

haha ... thanks on the comment ... i will update all of my deviations with a border and a watermark pretty soon ...

It's a pleasure man - it's an awesome picture. I only saw the title afterwards though - didn't know that that's what you intended.

Wicked image!

hehe, blame the title and the idea to the leveling curves

Very nice, I really like the air conditioner hanging out the window -- that and how the blue trashcans look now.

Zlatty In reply to casus-solari [2005-02-24 05:48:15 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it was a weird mix of the blue and green trashcans and how they turned out .... leveling is really fun ... try to mess with the silly curves sometime ... oh yeah, thanks on the comment

"Mr.Anderson... surprised, to see me?"
Agent Smith is one of the best badasses of all times. Mad props (å la xanga) to Mr. Weaving.

Matrix references aside, I like the green tint, but would've loved to see some other color on the trash cans. I just think there gotta be some other objects that stand out from the overall green tint. That said, nice perspective and atmosphere. Doesn't seem like Georgia at all, but an alley in more ancient city, say New York or Chicago. Can I say it's a great mood piece?

And um, I also saw a naked governor of California, back for the fourth time, for a second...

the oriiginal colors are orangeish .. brick and rust, but because of the light conditions they did not show right, so that sucked

facehead In reply to Zlatty [2005-02-24 18:56:04 +0000 UTC]

You could use a colour filter over the original (like an orangeish one or something), and when you convert the photo to grayscale or greenscale or whatever, the colours will be lighter... or darker, I always forget. With the 20d, it has a black and white mode that can use colour filters, but you can't use the colour filters one non-black and white shots... to my knowledge. Should be easy to duplicate the effect in Photoshop or Paintshop in your case. Photoshop elements comes with the 20d.

Zlatty In reply to facehead [2005-02-24 21:51:48 +0000 UTC]

I still havent installed photoshop elements. Right now I am using paint shop pro 9 since I got a good deal on it. I really don't hve time for filters and I can always use the "split RGB" function to get the BW filter feel for any picture digitally. I need to check out photoshop elements though.

I'm running Mac OS X, so PSP isn't an option. I quite love elements 2.0. Way better than Photoshop 5 and 6 which I had been using the last few years on my old PC.

I see... how come you switched to an apple product?

facehead In reply to Zlatty [2005-02-25 07:50:04 +0000 UTC]

I switched a couple of years ago, but I stil had a PC... now I don't even use it.

I switched to apple because it's prettier

Zlatty In reply to facehead [2005-02-25 23:19:24 +0000 UTC]

haha, apple osX - switch because we have pretty colors !
well its working out for you since you have had it for a few years

facehead In reply to Zlatty [2005-02-26 07:01:25 +0000 UTC]

i'd be lying if i said i didn't use pcs regularly

i actually built three pcs for various people since i bought my first iBook

it's not like i don't know how to use a pc, i just like macs more because of their prettiness and software integration

i'd suggest switching, but that's too forward... i'd just suggest trying it for awhile

but... whatever

you made your logo on a pc, and that's something cool

i had my runs with a mac
i could not stand the way certain programs worked and they were, well dummed down ... to be more efficient, but i need the advanced options when im doing something 1337 ... I guess I am too used to a PC, I suppose.
hehe

I took this downtown, about 8 hours ago.
Its an alley off of broad street, somewhere right of the arch, like a block away from toppers.

mRCRANKSWORTH In reply to Zlatty [2005-02-24 05:28:47 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I thought that alley looked familiar... maybe that time I shot up back there with that guy who thought he was the messiah.

Zlatty In reply to mRCRANKSWORTH [2005-02-24 05:31:15 +0000 UTC]

Hehe... perhaps, its one of the two cool alleys downtown, I need to bring a model next time, should be more fun.
