that is really simplistic and ironic.. so contraversial.. why didn't i see this before?
and that proves it.. great cameras dont always mean better photographer.. (pop! inspiration!)

Really nice shot and concept. I like your description too. May I ask how you got this shot? Take the camera in with you? They won't allow it in Ohio.

just one red bubble - and your fate is decided
for the next four years?
and what do they mean choose ONE - there are
FOUR fucking names on the ballot!

that's why it's all so confusing

For some of us, this is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of "democracy"

sneaky, sneaky

*quick google search on wtf is an incumbent in process*

Really appropriate and dynamic shooting angle, the immediate closeness, and the overewhelming size of the zoomed in typo, makes me feel as if I am being thrown at a great speed onto this plane of decision with a narrowed scope of sight... my eyes roaming around for an answer, a guide as to how to form my own opinion, but everything seems so uniform, so identical... and in fact...it is a sad underlying truth.

Daring venture into art with socio-political connotation. Big props mojo

they say "express yourself, vote" but only having few choices to choose from really says a a lot about society in general. 'be an individual as long as its in our guidelines.'

Who did you vote for in the end?

And of course your vote matters. Along with the others ofcourse.

Of course your vote matters. Accordiong to the last election, there were 105,360,260 votes. Therefore your vote counted as .000000949%. How's freedom taste now?

Good statistic. But the elecetion was rigged anyway, so I don't think it matters.

Your framing sucks! You left the most important part as fuzz in the lower left corner! Why fill in both when you can leave both blank and choose something better?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

casus-solari [2004-10-26 17:35:27 +0000 UTC]

Fill in both circles!! THAT'LL BAFFLE THEM!!! I'd just fill in the O's on the ballots cause I think both those candidates are unfit for the job . . . or too fit, those crazy pawns!

I love this pic, i think its really great! not being american makes it more fascinating still

there's only one thing i don't really like about this shot - the extensive blurring in the left hand corner (which, incidentaly, obviously couldn't be altered lol)

good work

heh. just had the australian elections, and i was slightly concerned with my country because i discovered that by my first election that i could vote in, i was already jaded.
politically i'm some combination of a socialist, an anarchist, and a social democrat, with an even spread of postmodernism, feminism and ecologism across the whole lot.

...

viva la revolution!

anyway, its a lovely photo

Voting does matter and unfortunatley for what should be a democratic society only 45% of americans vote.
It's an excllent close up though and the angle does make the writting look bold and stand out. Great job!

"My mind races between the bubble ovals, trembling in fear, thinking if my vote really matters"

Nice, dramatically angled symbol of who's running the world for the next 4 years.- The whole world should be able to vote. Including Iraq, Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran.

I think other countries really shouldn't be allowed to vote. People have been saying that here too (Netherlands), but that means they would be allowed to interfere in our elections too (fair's fair, right)... And I never, ever want to see that.

As much as we might hate it, it is their own business. Let's just hope they make the right choice...

The framing is excellent. You either made a really smart crop or shot this clean and smooth.
The shadow and blur gradients really bring out the confusion and frustration associated with politics. It's nice and sharp, I must say. However, it's the little blurb under it that makes the image for me. You've gotta wonder with this system, will it be counted? will it really have an effect on the results? If it does, will anything really change?
That's the problem. No matter who you vote for, the things that are fundamentally wrong remain. That's what the excellent lighting in this photo says to me. It's the shadow of a black cloud hanging over the whole system. I agree with one party on a lot more foreign policy and domestic issues, but that doesn't mean I support their cause. Either way, the corporations and the bourgeois DC suits are running the show, not the people. The system is flawed because of the two monopilizing parties that really give us a choice between a corporate whore who is pro-stem cell and 'anti-war' and a corporate whore who is anti-stem cell and pro-war.
You're told that your vote is wasted if you vote for any party but those. And I guess it's true. But isn't your vote wasted if you vote for something you only half support, too? Sage Francis says it very well when he rhymes "one love, one life, one too many victims/ republicrat, democran, one party-system."
Artistically, this is expertly done. The choice of ISO 50 allows the red to appear so vibrant compared to the dull blacks and whites, intensifying the anxiety. Aside from the sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight and very fine bit of grain in the bottom right, I'd say this is 'flawless.' And that slight bit of grain can't be avoided even at ISO 50 when shot entirely in the dark. Otherwise, it's nice and sharp. The control of situation is superb. Even without the blurb, I could've told you what this was about. I just happen to like the blurb.

Good luck, fellow.

It's interesting how the focus plays a bit differently with digital cameras.

Im glad i dont live in USA for i would not know how to act. This is a nice piece, i like how democracy shows itself in life betwen choices of 2. Bush/Kerry, CocaCola/Pepsi, McDonalds/BurgerKing, PC/MAC, Conservative Right/Rebellious Left.
Nice piece again.
