Well I seriously doubt that the count is right, somehow other DD's around this time have that amount too but as you mentioned others got more like 15-20k views in a day. Maybe it's the entire number of people visiting the dA site and it's somehow connected

Wow. This is cool! I liked the guyver series when i was young
(too young to see the last episode in the old version, lol).
Seeing it as a sprite make me think that he could use his Mega Smasher in a game.

A bit of a serious critique. The first thing I ask myself when looking at a sprite is "what platform is this intended for?" as the style usually goes out to mimic the style of older gaming platforms. 15 colors. Genesis was limited to 16, that was the last (non-handheld) to be nearly that limited. Then there's the size 198x375 would be genesis was 320x224 thus meaning this guy could only show up by looking up and down his body on that console. In handhelds the DS at 256x192 would have to cut him across both screens. The only way this could seriously be used as a game sprite without it being cutscene only and not all on screen at the same time is really if someone made an HD sprite game, just limiting the colors for the feel. which is a bloody interesting idea, as I don't believe it's been done. with a screen size of 1080x1920 (HD Widescreen) the character becomes a fifth the height of the screen a fair size for a player character or boss. Notably a character of this detail would be nigh impossible to animate.
Now for the piece itself, I look really close for technical errors (downloading and looking at the individual pixels in paint) the only things I see that might be an error is the edges of the left (his left) arm spike and a little bit above where the black material stops in the headspike. Also, since you are choosing to work in color limited style, I have to ask if the three shades of green used in a relatively small area only are that necessary. Also anatomically, the left (his left) arm looks to have a bigger bicep than the right.
As much as I said this would be really hard to animate, I'd love to see it done and I challenge you to try.

I didn't actually made this to be used in any games. Like you mentioned it would be almost impossible to animate this, unless you want to spend an insane amount of time on it
I just made it because I enjoy making things at a pixel level with a set of restrictions, where I can place every pixel the way I want but limiting myself to a pallete and possible a size (though not for this one in particular)
