Human Leo is Zody Ackerman, a nonbinary freshman. When a mystical orange tabby wandered into their life, they called him Leo after the symbol on his collar. They'll soon find out that the tabby is an extension of the king of the astralverse, distinguished as "the Leo," who needs the help of Zody and their classmates. The tabby and lion share a star mark under their eye: on the cat, it's under the right, and on the lion, it's under the left.

Zody is the focal character of the series. They're headstrong, energetic, a natural leader, and they have a little-known athletic gift.
