Good Luck on your first!
When you draw and something looks wrong,
flip the drawing upside down.
This forces you to see whats actually there as opposed to your brain making it up.
cheers.

wow, fantastic piece of art! it's definitely one of the very best drawings I've ever seen on DA!
I got a little question, how did you drew the bright hair in his eye brows? I mean, did you missed them out while drawing or used you kneaded eraser? I still struggle with brighter parts of hair so I hope you can help me

you shade in the eyebrow a solid color then fade the edges out.
then take your pencil or charcoal then draw in the hairs. The you take an eraser, the kind on your #2 pencil, and erase in the lighter hairs. then just repeat drawing and erasing the hairs. hope it helped!

Agreed that the nose could use a little work transitioning into the viewer's right side of the face. It looks too smoothe for the rest of the face. Otherwise, this is stunning. I so envy people who can produce this kind of result with charcoal. Great work

Yes, it does get everywhere. My little anal-retentive heart just can't handle it. For your first time, though, you've got an amazing handle on it. I'm impressed.

hah thank you.
My teacher is always pushing.
But him pushing us is the difference between Best of Shows/1st place and 2nd places.

.
I think the left side of the nose could use a bit of work, otherwise its pretty much perfect
