I've been having fan theories about the true nature of "soot ghosts"
1) static-based dust lifeforms whose grains act as a neural network.
2) nanomachine colonies, "soot" being a familiar analogy as soot grains are considered natural nanoparticles.
Which one do you consider more plausible?
