This romantic 'affair' was the most unexpected thing about Godzilla: King of the Monsters. And it makes sense, as Godzilla had 'Adam' in a codename given to him by Monarch in Godzilla 2014. Mothra, therefore, is the 'Eve' of the Monsterverse.  Actually, remembering the last film, these two are more like Iris and Osiris from Egyptian mythology.

That is cute.  It's like she's asking "Who's a big teddy-bear lizard?" while giving him a snuggle.    Yeah, I saw one video where he was called that and it sticks because it's hilarious.

Everyone ships it for their titles but the movie actually stated they DO have some kind of symbiotic relationship, with others commenting if they had a THING with each others. In fact, Mothra has Godzilla's EYES on her WINGS!!

Mothra: See this, Gojira? I got YOUR EYES~!

Gojira: ... Don't make me blast you and restart your age...

Godzilla and Mothra's relationship was one of my favourite things about this movie. They really felt like more of the symbiotic rulers that their 'King/Queen of Monsters' titles suggests.
