Description
Finally found time to finish this simple animation. Its been a while since I have done any at home and I need to... i really do. Its vector style render so the file came out a little big. so give it sometime to load. I don't like putting loaders in as I don't want people to wait. so first time is slower then normal.Ones again as before.
Modeling, animation, rendering is by me.
Rigging is be Stev Kalinowski at [link] one of top riggers I know.
other works like it:

Made entirely in Maya.
I did modeling, animation and rendering, while Stev Kalinowski did the rigging.

this is soooo awesome. I love that you thought enough about the mechanics to make the smaller pieces move and release when parts extend.

WOW!
Incredible job.
Well done ... nothing needs to be changed on this renedering.
You did a GREAT job.
Pay no mind to =Zorrino's opinion regarding "too much interpolation". It is as it should be.
Take care,

The original character moved in a less smooth way.

original character was not in 3D... it was stop motion animation mostly...
you cannot compare in that way.

fabianfucci In reply to zoomzoom [2011-03-17 02:10:50 +0000 UTC]
What has that to do with this? There's too much interpolation, that's the only thing I said, and it has nothing to with the original being done in stop motion, even stop motion models can be animated smoothly.

zoomzoom In reply to fabianfucci [2011-03-17 05:40:44 +0000 UTC]
Well. I guess it comes down to the matter of opinion. you are saying that original one was more jerky by design, while I feel it was because of stop motion made in the 80s. now since I am not re-animating any of the existing scenes where motion can be matched to the time line exactly, I think its up to me how smooth I want it to be. And ones again... since you are an animator, I am extending an invitation to you show me on live example of what you are talking about.

Obviously I can't model, rig, and animate an ED-209 overnight, but I might get back in touch after animating any other mechanical device.
