to my knowledge its an oak. its 66 feet high, and its crown spreads over 145 feet, with twisting branches that bow to the ground & curl back up. it shades an area of 190 in diameter. The tree is less than 200 years old, but it still ranks as one of the oldest living things in Jacksonville, FL. looks like a freaky octopus.

Yea. I wanted to... to take different shots, but... it’s like the oldest Oak in FL. I think. Located in a little square in a downtown Jacksonville. I am surprised there is no fee to see it... yet...

Very awesome. Have you read "This Alien Shore", there was a tree that was growing in a ship in wierd G, so it started growing and rooting in all directions at once. This looks almost like I'd imagined it. Wierd to see in real life.
I love it.

Cool. I don't think I read that story. Who is it by? I think Gary Garrison has story similar to that.
The three is in Jacksonville, FL. USA. It’s very freaky in a real life. Especially at night… I am glad u like it.

CS Friedman. It's not the focus of the book, it's just offhandedly described. It caught my attention though.
Odd book.
Yeah, I imagine pictures can't quite catch it's strangeness. However, admittedly, more pictures would be great to see. *grinz*

Great. I recently was in a neighborhood and snapped a few more shots of the same giant. But because I was very busy could not find time to work on the shots. But I have ideas... so keep in touch and there will be more...
If you like odd books. I recommend reading "The Iron Dragon's Daughter" by Michael Swanwick. Very original... hard to apprehend and connect. Loved it.

Yes... well... I got to say that I did read it in Russian (my first language) witch can probably make somewhat of a difference, but I heard that the English version was nominated or given some kind of award as well. Also the fact that it has been translated into a different language states that it got to be a good book...
p.s. thanks for the interest...

Thank you again. That is a nice place to be.. A little freaky at night, but during the day it’s usually empty and quite.
