Not only you made this look uncontrollably realistic, you seem to have added a great touch of the extreme, Xanatos looks ripped.

Yeah, I guess I've finally developed a style of my own, even though it's been a mass of influences (Emiliano Santalucia, Paul Kidby, Don Rosa...) from others. At some point it was really Disney-ish. I can imitate the Gargs stylishings till some degree, but these days I kind of prefer to draw most of my works using my own twists.

I guess I strive into megalomania because I want to challenge my skills every now and then. This one took however a bit too much cursing and nail-biting to finish, so probably won't be sidestepping into projects alike in a while. But I don't want to let the quality degrade, just lessen the character amount. I really want to develop my coloring techniques further too, as I find working with cel shading extremely boring.

As usual, the hair jumps out at me first, followed by the facial expressions. THOSE are most impressive. The picture as a whole looks very nice, but those are the things that draw my eye first.

A bit artistic lisence, but they're in the crosslight of strong blue and yellow, and the hair in reality catches most of the reflected tones. So it's a bit compromised now, because I hate leaving black entirely black.

Well, I did most of the coloring work back in July, and got back to it later on to fix some mistakes and add the final shading. Kinda got bored to it midway round, hence the longer break. XD

Oh yes, especially when my dorm was like an overheated sauna most of the summer. When the stylus keeps slipping off your hand because of sheer temperatures and the sun shines against your face at 11pm, the patience dies. XD And this one really required it.

The hair, actually, usually takes the least time. I draw it with very quick and sharp brush strokes on a few layers. It goes faster because I don't need to care about any smoothness aspects, like those in the faces and so on.

Yeah, it took some time. I did most of the coloring work at the beginning of June, but sorta lost interest midway round and got back to it later on. Probably a good thing I let it simmer a bit because I could pinpoint a few mistakes and fix them in a better manner.
