Sweet, and I thought the original Lineart with all it's detail was godly. Heheh. I love what you've done to it now; i.e: adding all those colours. You seem to have pulled it off very well as he still looks deliciously evil and totally awesome at the same time.
I think it's time for another Favourite+.
Best Regards

my goodness, this is absolutely incredible! I (as well as everyone else who looks at your art) truely appreciates the hard work you put into this, as well as all your other pieces.
Fantastic!

Eeh... lots of practise?
I usually place a 'multiply' layer over the lineart and start adding color with OpenCanvas's watercolor brush. Pretty much my standard technique.

Considering the fact that I only recently learned the "mulitply" trick...*sigh* really wish I'd known that before.
Anywho, after you put all the color in, you dodge it, correct? but I can never decide which "shade" of the dodge tool to use, or why. My computer colors are a tad off too...and that doesn't help at all.
Maybe I should just go back to old-fasioned painting...

zorm In reply to Obi-quiet [2006-02-20 17:43:06 +0000 UTC]
Not exactly in that order. I use dodging in the very last phase, when I've already flattened all the layers and added all the necessary color corrections and darkening layers. I don't use the cell shading technique any longer, but "paint" directly in the various shades of color, hence the dodging is only to get the brightest tones out. I tend to use light blue for blu-ish and light yellow for warmer colors, when it comes to the dodge tool.
As for computer colors... they're unfortunately pretty much display adapter -specific, and require both calibrating the screen and the color profile. That's a big mess to explain there, but maybe try a Google search on the topic.

Thanks!
All in all it took maybe a few days to do, though I'd recall there was a pause before I got onto coloring the lineart.

Ooh! *slobber* What a HANDSOME picture! Grievous is... ahh. He's like fresh, ice-cold bottle of Sprite on a hot summer day. And I can't just bring myself to invent any words to tell you how much I adore the background, and the light sabres, and the long cloak, and every little detail you've managed to make so perfect once again. I could stare at this picture for hours on end. IF only I could print it on my office wall.

Wow...he looks..buff. o_O I agree on the lightsaber issue, but DAMN, the rest of him is just amazing. You're so overlooked. ><

Thanks.
The lightsaber thing is actually deliberate. Wanted to give the picture a bit more asymmetric look and add more own stylishings.
Buff? Gosh, must be because of all the hulks I usually draw.

Wow! Incredible. I love the refelction of the lightsaber on his armor and stuff. Quite a nice touch. And I like your style of CG-coloring mixed in with this character, it works out impeccably well. Great job! You certainly did this character justice.

The light sabers seem a bit long and thin, but it looks good.

Thanks.
The lightsabers are deliberately like that. More of my own stylishing since I didn't want to follow the movie too closely.
