Description Colored finally this horrible thing, since for some incomprehensible reason a few folks wanted to see him as such, even if it wasn't included in the original job description.
No peeking under the loincloth. Poor guy already got his fig-leaf stolen too many times when he was once wearing one.

Still looks cleaner than I expected, but I have to admit I think this is much closer to the described. Guess I just stumbled over your older stuff while reading. LOL.

Heavily scrubbed for this one special occasion, as this was a commission to a, erm, fangirl. XD

I still can't fathom how this character can have actual fanboys/girls. I mean, he's supposed to be repulsive. Not bishietastic or sparkly or lovale or anything.

I find him endearing just because he's so...interesting. I mean a warrior elf who puts Gangus Kahn to shame. You have to appreciate a character like that, and that's what you were going for, right?

zorm In reply to Obi-quiet [2009-09-19 18:08:28 +0000 UTC]

Well... I must admit that he's currently my favorite creation, and I'm at least attempting to make him 'interesting' under all the dirt and brutality and bad habits. So perhaps I have to take back a part of the previous statement.

Now that's more like it.

Hoping to get the next few chapters back to you soon.

When/where does your first book end? (how many chapters) and are you going to try and publish it here in America and in England?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to Obi-quiet [2009-10-13 17:18:11 +0000 UTC]

There are 19 chapters. It's fairly difficult for a "foreigner" to get an American publisher, so I'm trying other methods like print-on-demand and ebook format. I'm not expecting any huge success; the most important thing right now is to push it out, so I can concentrate on the second volume.

The first book ends with Hiid having been released from the prison, and the second takes place some 4 years later. I remember you noticed those drawings where she's stouter. Well, the new world has offered some tasty food rich in energy besides physical, old-fashioned labor.

Ah, I see. Well then.

Dang, you should totally be able to get published here. That totally stinks.

Do you think it might be easier to get an English (British) publisher?

zorm In reply to Obi-quiet [2009-11-05 19:29:21 +0000 UTC]

I'd say the main problem is that the story started as an online novel and still lurks the odd corners of bitspace. Publishers unfortunately aren't keen on pre-published material.

By the way, how are you doing with the chapters? Haven't heard from you in a while.

Well, I moved, I started a new job, had to work with/in an anime con that I've been planning and committed to for almost a year, my friend stayed at my place while we prepared for our other friend to get married (we were both bridesmaids and had to make our own dresses)...I've been busy. But I've read a little bit, and I should be able to get to more soon.

Sorry it's taken so long.

If only human men could be so deliciously horrendous.

OK, I've resisted reading the novel because most dark lords (and, well, any other character I like) end up brutally killed in a nasty manner, but I'll just trust in the humor of it and go for it. Besides, if he did get killed, he could always come back as a lecherous ghost, right?

zorm In reply to Sasuga [2008-09-17 15:19:28 +0000 UTC]

Eh, the novel's under editing for readability, grammar, and integrity right now, so anything I have up on the net is to be read at one's own risk only. I haven't touched the first part since 2005, and it shows, while the second isn't even complete and needs to be relieved of an amount of flowery language and inconsistencies. I'm hoping to publish the first part sometime next spring, if I can keep up with my even currently delayed schedule.

The heroes and villains of this story aren't exactly straightforward, as there's a lot of gray in-between and even the main character Hiid is a borderline anti-hero. Maybe it's better that I'm not telling beforehand who's going to die and who isn't, as even I haven't yet fully decided that. XD They have an underworld in this universe, though, and for instance Lhietd to whom you refer has been dead for about 700000 years. He however has a high place in the court of the Underworld Lord and is known to wander around according to his own head, not much caring about the Rules.

Yup, and it's humor/parody for the most part.

zorm In reply to Cellitha [2008-02-16 08:17:58 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. XD Lord Khran-Av'ees is a Rha-kan'Ockian elf, a half-crazy dark lord, although he's doing some fanservice here. XD The race is loosely based on Finnish mythology, where an elf doesn't need to be all pretty and Tolkien-ish and furthermore is sometimes synonymous with 'giant'. So now we have... ΓΌber-hairy, blue-skinned monster-elves with an average height of 7 feet. Khran's around 8.

I guess you already found the novel too. XD I'm starting to look into a publishing plan, but the first book needs a bit of editing first.

Great job on the muscles once again, though I honestly wouldn't be able to tell if there was anything wrong XD Do you use references, or know the human body by heart by now?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to konijnemans [2007-05-25 19:48:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

I use self-photographed refs (I thought everyone knew this by now, but ah well), mirror, and a few math tricks to draw these; they've been and are the only ways I've come to understand the human body (I hardly know it by heart, though, I just practiced back muscles with my latest Clockwork piece XD). I usually need an approximate ref just for the pose; muscles and clothes are not that difficult to add on top when I get the 'skeleton structure' and foreshortenings right. Buildings and whatnot I can whip entirely out of my head; it's actually pretty mechanical when you first draw the perspective lines and apply some maths there.

there is something just so delightful about your overmuscled elves. <3

zorm In reply to Keleri [2007-05-25 18:49:58 +0000 UTC]

Khran is from the bigger end even inside his own race, so I guess even they could call him overmuscled. But, I don't know, if I made him scrawnier, he'd lose a big part of his character, since it's meant to be very brutish and rough-hewn. XD
