the little girl starts walking and each step she takes she conforms more to society, that is eventually finding rent in one of the apartments and getting a car like all the other people. By the time she is at the end of the street her time has come and gone.

I'm just used to seeing the B&W work. I was introduced to you by a friend after I told them I liked high contrast B&W film photography. So it's a bit of a shock!
Not saying that it's a bad thing! I think it's a great shot, and to be honest I think the atmosphere would be lost in B&W.

Such good perspective, the bottom left line where horizontal building meets vertical ground almost lines up with the skyline of the top right building.

the inclusion of that bulky over-hang makes me nervous for the girl who is obviously about to get crushed like a cabbage-patch pancake.

that leading line draws your eye to the center, not the girl..
the moment is in the bottom third.. that shadow.. well executed. i just think this photo doesnt focus enough on her.
or you should have just taken this from her perspective.. you can tell when a photo is taken while standing up.. gives you the notion of "first person".. getting low would have given you her perspective.. that would have also fixed your leading line problem.

wrong. it's a pity when a picture needs a description. at least that's my idea of photography... there is a story for every single shot in my gallery but i just don't feel like sharing them. i prefer the viewer finding their own.

well there are pictures that also need descriptions and good titles. picture is worth 1000 words but sometimes it is not enough.

Cut top and buttom as bit. make BW. and the story is - the gap of understanding between parents and children! (see the parents in the end of the way?) as the kid walks - it grows. and the gap becomes smaller and smaller. philosophy in photography. great! (PS Dont forget cutting and BW)

i agree. maybe some sharpen filter too.
really, when it comes down to it, there's not much point in putting this on film either, so i don't know why you wasted your time with that. make it on digital. easier and quicker to get it into photoshop and crop, tweak colours, sharpen more. once or twice. did you know that that canon 1d marctew has 8.2 megapixels? that's a lot of pixels. have you ever counted that high? if you haven't, then you know it's a lot.
