Stripped down, just raw enough to make sense of it. I'd like to say poignant. I have about ten different images playing around in my mind right now. I don't know what it is about this, but I see it as sentimentality wrapped in tin-foil, a memory.

(i had no idea as to what the poem was about before, which makes me regret my initial comment of 'cute')

poetry doesn't have to be completely understood, to be looked at and appreciated. I do not need to read this and contend that this means that, or that means this, but simply to say that this is something i liked reading.
Or to be more precise, there is something in the words and their arrangement that is precise, intentional, and touching.
No, poetry does not have to be this fangle-dangle montage of make sense-arithm's. The arithmetic of words is important enough alone.
On an inconsequential note, i like the intense sentimentality of the piece. Tied to some sort of martyrdom, and someone is sacrificing. Someone indeed.
