Description
I was going to hold these until the release of the 3D Apophysis hack, but I am starting to do stupid things already, like doing some really small adjustments and re-rendering it again, and then thinking like "oh, this one isn't so good, I shouldn't submit it at all..."This one started as a test-render for the "depth of field" effect. I'm still not sure that my DOF is implemented correctly though...

I can't believe it- I just want to reach out and touch it. It's so pretty, and the DOF and texture make it look real. Great job!

I peed my pants when I saw this image. Love the depth of field and I can't wait too mess with the 3D hack for myself.

This may sound like an odd request, but can I snag a copy without the watermarks?

oh wow, this is possibly the best thing I've seen from apophysis... ever...
and the coolest wallpaper I've had in a very long time.

I see that this is already in 1680x1050
but is it available in 1600x1200 by any chance?
I'd like to use it on my desktop, if that is allowed

this is an absolutely amazing piece, probably my favorite fractal piece ive seen. the colours, the mood, the depth, all of it, just amazing. i cannot fault it.
but like the other i would really love to find out how this works, and a tutorial would be great

Oh my freaking God! Are you serious? THIS will change apoph forever! I simply can't imagine what we're going to start seeing from the fractal community when everyone (and let's face it, EVERYONE will want this) starts using this.
Quite possibly the most amazing "photo realistic" flame I've ever seen. Insta-fav!

First of all, I'd like to attempt to articulate the effect this had on me, to get a similar impression would probably involve being hit by a bus
Secondly, have you considered marketing this and the similar to British Gas as a new advertising thing? Reminds me of gas flames a lot, and looks in bits remarkably similar to the gas flame characters they have at the moment ^^

This is absolutely fantastic! And, as a photographer, I can say that you are actually doing DOF pretty well; typically, for up-close things (haha.....can you really consider a fractal up-close when it is infinite?
), you've got the medial plane of field that is focused and everything closer than that and everything farther than that is blurred. The larger the depth of field, the greater amount of distance that will be in focus in the medial plane--though, technically speaking, things closer to you will come into focus faster than things farther away because of peculiarities of lenses and aperatures. The only thing I'd say is extend the plane of focus farther left and right, but I think you're doing that OK, since I can't see farther left and right from the edges of the image

Holy shiznit!
That's utterly incredible. To be honest, I don't mind how long the hack takes, as long as you give us a few fractals made with it.
