Drew this before I saw the movie but colored it afterwards.I know that I'll get "TOOTHLESS IS NOTHING LIKE STITCH!!!>8C" comments,BUT! I saw some similarities.
Physically: The shape of the head and large eyes, that much I saw from the trailer.
But as I saw the movie the characteristic of Stitch and Toothless are completely DIFFERENT!!!!
Yes I know Stitch and Toothless had a mischief attitude but for those who saw "Lilo and Stitch" Stitches attitude begins to change and then becomes kind and sweet but with just a hint of mischief. To everyone.
Toothless however will become cautious and distant hostile even, like real wild animals till he warms up to you.
And just to note;
Stitch is an alien that disguise himself as a dog and started off evil like but gradually became good. Stitch is also self couscous about what people say about him.
Toothless is a dragon he was NEVER EVIL!! Nor ever pretended to be anything he wasn't, he'll act hostile to any new comers unless proven not to be a threat. But even afterwards will be very cautions till he's use to ya. Toothless has no understanding of human language at ALL. And does his own thing, Dragon stuff.
So there's no similarly other then physical shape of there head and eyes and the mischief.

This looks very good. But I have something to say about the description: Toothless does understand human language, well, most of it. Look at the HTTYD wiki and also if you watch more carefuly the movie and the series, too, you'll see I'm right.

actually the makers of Toothless and Stitch are the same that's why they have similarities.

Toothless understands at least a LITTLE bit of the human language! When he was about to kill Stoick, Hiccup shouted, "NO!", and Toothless stopped, like he understood him.
When Toothless was about to attack Astrid, Hiccup stopped him and said she was a friend. Toothless calmed down (not really, but wasn't trying to charge as much) after that.
There's been quite a lot of moments where Toothless seems to understand the human language, actually . . .

u may have been told this alredy but Toothles did understand human language. like the seen were ....Ingred? what ever her name was insalted him and started freeking out untill she apologised. any why yah the only thing similer is some basic body trates. its still fun seeing mixes of the 2 like this. ^_^

Chris Sanders designed both Stitch and Toothless, along with all the other dragons. Which is why they look so similar.

STITCH DRAGON FOR THE WIN! Seriously, he looks good with the wings and the long tail. And now Toothless is even more cute!

There's also physical similarity in their feet. They both have that sorta elephant-like foot shape.
