Description
I'll be completely honest with you guys, Asterix and Obelix wasn't really a part of my childhood. Such a damn shame I had to grow up without them⦠Only later did I get to know them better. I can't make up that time, but I wanted to make a little tribute. I frickin love all the comics and the movies! I can't get enough of them!So this is how I would imagine them in my style. Somehow I really wanted to see Asterix in baggy pants. Dogmatix got a schnauzer approach from me. Obelix didn't really change much, but it's up for you to say
And just a side note. I finished this picture weeks ago, I just never got around to actually upload it. I'm really sad, because during that time, I heard that their original artist died. So I guess this should be a tribute to him too.

Wait, what?! In english "Idefix" is called "Dogmatix"?! XD
I found this translation awesome, becaux, we kept the joke ("IdΓ©e fixe" => "Dogmatic") BUT, there is a second jokes add to it ("Dog") XD !Β
What an awesome hommage for Gosciny ^^ !Β

That's a pretty cool style for them. They've been rembranding a lot of the belgium comic figures in a new style and I wouldn't mind if they did Asterix & Obelix in this one.Β

Nice! Have you seen the computer-animated cartoon on Netflix? I didn't get a chance to see it before we got rid of Netflix, but it looks pretty awesome!

Love it! Obelix looks like the fun guy that he is. Fat yet strong appearance, robust arms. And most importantly, I like this version of Asterix being not big, but neither a midget.

They look pretty good, though Obelix doesn't look 'right' unless he's either toting a menhir around or batting some poor Roman into the stratosphere.

Mister Uderzo's writings have been a big part of my childhood. I was, and still am a big fan of the Asterix & Obelix stories. I have seen basically all the Dutch translated stories of Asterix and Obelix andΒ some of my favourite animated movies are the Asterix & Obelix ones (the earlier live action ones are also quite cool). not to mention all the works he made alongside his compatriot Goscinny. Mister Uderzo was a huge part of the Franco-Belgian comic culture that is very well known around my part of the world. I don't know what else to say, the fact that he is gone, it just feels so sad...

I...actually was REALLY into Asterix and Obelix way back when I was a kid, during the 1990s, I remember thinking they were HUGE back then...(Not sure if that's true).
Anyway, I just adore these two, I think one of the more hilarious books was Asterix and the Secret Weapon (of course it did get dramatic at the climax, but some bits were funny).
Well, a part of your childhood or not, I'm glad you got to know the franchise now, I don't think a person's ever too old to get into something β₯

Huh, that's weird.
I always knew "Dogmatix" as "Idefix", mainly because it's the dog's original name.
It has to be the same with "Tintin", because *his* dog's name is originally called "Milou", but the English dub calls him "Snowey".
I prefer the "Non-English" names better.
They sound much more pleasant then compared to this "English version"

Well, in the English translation, yeah, they called him Dogmatix, not exactly sure why, maybe because they thought Idefix wouldn't make sense to us.Β I think they were going more for puns when they were naming the characters, (Asterix=Asterisk, Obelix=Obelisk, Getafix=Get a fix, Vitalstatitix=Vital Statistics, etc.)
I was raised on the English translated names, but I can accept the original names.
As for Milou being called Snowy in the English world, well, that's just an exact translation of "Milou", so we did call Milou by his original name, it's just been translated to English that's all, my name would be pronounced differently if I went to France or Belgium, but they'd still be using my name.

I just remembered that in Tintin, the two cops were also "changed".
Don't remember what they were called in English,
but they're original names are "Dupon & Dupont".

Oh yeah, those two, we call them "Thomson and Thompson" (with a 'P' and without) here, and don't forget Professor Tryphon Tournesol(I think that's his name, which translates to Professor Tryphon Sunflower here), we call him Professor Cuthbert Calculus here.

In Finland Professor's name has been translated to "Professori Tuhatkauno"
A straight translation of "Tuhatkauno" means: "Thousand Belles-lettres"
But a "correct" translation says it is a flower called "daisy".
Pretty interesting how some names were kept but very few were "translated" or "replaced" ^^

Huh, so his name's basically "Professor Daisy"..matches the Flower motif the French version was going for ehehe.

Yes, Idefix plays off the french iidΓ©e, same for the german version, an idea.
Funny, in the german version Milou/Snowey is called Struppi, a name that describes his fur as scruffy.
As a kid i got sooo confused by all the varying names, also nice to see my old comic book favorites in your style, they look great!

Ohhhhh, So it's a pun after all eheheh.
Huh, well, for German people that'd probably make sense ehehe.
Thanks, but...that's not my style, because I didn't draw this, Zummeng did, I was just answering your comment ehehe.

I'm not surprised, since, Asterix, with Tintin, is well known to be comics that selled in many country X3!
But I'm still happy to see that it REALLY is popular in country that are not French Speaking X3 !Β
