Description

Swamp Secrets

The twin moons were rapidly rising in conjunction over the river as we quickly tethered the kayak and pushed through the palm swamps to the island's secret treasure, hidden in its' well-defended core.

A once-every-ten-year event was our goal, the sporing of the ecologist's grail, an astounding organism - a giant fungoid Arumesque species, somewhat akin to Earth's Amorphophallus titanum [link] in form, but as yet unnamed. This species of seemingly part-plant, part-animal, is so secret that even naming it would draw the collectors and threaten its existence in this last refugium that had supported it since life began on this planet. Only the cognoscenti ecologia, the un-nameable society of chosen ecologists, sworn to secrecy, knew of its' existence.

In seeking to witness its' never-before-seen miracle of reproduction we had been given a sacred task.
It only happened in the red light generated in the brief moments as Ganymede's twin moons eclipsed

At last we found the place and not a second too late. Before us, illuminated by red shafts of moonlight, the event was happening. The gigantic towering 20 foot flower was opening, releasing its' precious cargo, that floated across the swamp on vagrant airs.

Quickly we harvested the spore and recorded the event for the Ark. Then left as quickly as we had come. Even our presence here was a danger to this place and its' amazing species.

Back on the ship we reviewed the evidence as we left this solar system, destined for Arcturus. This planet was indeed very similar to Earth. This species had so many similarities to Earth's fungi and Aroids. In taking it back to Ark Biosphere base we had secured its existence as long as the Ark could be maintained.

Post Script.

Finally the analysis of the spore has come back. Read about it here:

PRODUCTION DETAILS
Apophysis 2.06c beta 3D Hack

THE PROCESS:

Thanks to

Opened sgp's 3D JulianTubeballs_3DHack.flame [link]

Generated another batch over them using keeperofthegood's 3D Sierpinksi Batch script [link]

Then ran ToAPP's saTubes batch script [link] over that KotG batch to generate yet a 3rd flame batch.

Finally chose a flame & deconstructed it

The Flame name:Tube_KBF_Sie3D_ovr_Jtb-DJE-070912-114_0013 tells most of this saga, but who is Jtb? Thanks whoever you are.

Postwork bg in PSCS2.

Ooooh...When I first saw this I was confused by all the red and the wireframed floor, I dunno to me it looks like the inside of some Space Ship with all the things flying around transporters...But its in the Swamp where life began o_o amazing!

Your skills are phenomenal. Both in Apo and in Incendia. It's almost unreal as to what you can do with them both. The rendering for this piece, for example, is seemless. Your work is truely impressive.

That's a good notion. Yes I could do light changes, wafty floating spore & maybe some swamp creature. I usually do gifs in Adobe Image Maker, swf's in Flash. For larger multi-frame movies I find Clare Jones animation scripts the easiest.

Apophymator is great because you can change variables, move XForms and cycle gradients, change viewpoints and automatically morph between them!(it uses all the 3DHack functions) If you would like to collaborate, I can run some demos for you! I have a few anims on DA but a bunch more on youtube under Capstoned-- tell me what you think...I like sgtgrandpa's idea.

I actually have Apophymator, but I haven't tried it out . I hadn't realised it had such powerful functions, so I'll definitely use it soon.

I've subscribed to you & fav'd your pieces on uToob [link] & added you to my Friends, so I'll study yr vids & see what I can learn from them.

I have a lot of logistical probs with renders & dialup uploads. Time & pc screen-affected eyes are my enemies. Living in the mountains storms & sudden unexplained blackouts mean I can't leave machine on all night (bunk-house hundreds of metres from studio), so long renders are out. But I can see from yr vids that a lot can be achieved in 20 sec grabs. Is there any way of downloading uToob vids?

What kind of collaboration did you have in mind?

I think any YT video can be downloaded- but they are very low qual- the originals are clear and sharpe- I had to compress the heck out of them to meet YT specs Collaborating- If you send me the params(E-mail Joeyg007@yahoo.com) for SS I can tweak the flame a bit (change angle views, cycle gradients, rotate XForms etc.) and run them thru Apophymator for you to give you some ideas. If you need me, I can walk you thru A'mator (there are many versions)- You have some great flames... lets get them in motion

That's a great offer, I'm rather blown away...thanks.

I'll send paras in a dA Note now, it's easier, but will establish an email link with you soon as well.

Let me know if there's a purely Apo flame you fancy to try out. This one has PS starbrush additions & gradient fx on the bg so they would have to be factored in separately as an inserted png series. Let's start simple, no PS.

Can we just hold off on the Apophymator walkthru for a week as I have heaps I'm trying to grapple with learning Incendia, new plugins for Apo to test & so on. I'll Note you when I feel I can work with it comfortably.

This is very encouraging.

You are welcome, yes just a flame as Apo cant work with any PS extras-- NP on A'mator. Swamp Secrets is the one I would really like Let me know if I can help with Incendia(questions)
