This took forever to make, mostly because I started working on it, lost interest for three months, and then we moved. I got back into it about two weeks ago, and it's gone pretty fast since then.

The biggest time consumer was the sanding. I started out with my crappy little dremmel, but then my husband found his sander, and that sped it up like crazy. After that it was the painting and the wiring, neither of which took very long.

A couple of spots are obviously incorrect - the black panel isn't as long as it should be, and the text isn't quite right. By the time I realized this, I was so ready to just get it finished that I was like "Screw it" and kept going.

Overall, this cost about $30 to make, mostly in switches because I'm so picky when it comes to detail. The buttons aren't perfect, but they're as close as I could get without specially ordering them off of the Internet.

Materials:
An old vintage briefcase, found at a thrift store
Fluorescent paint (in BLU, of course)
Toggle switches and an indicator light in various colors
A chunk of PVC pipe cut in half and sanded down into a makeshift combination lock
A TON of wiring
A battery cradle scavenged from a remote-controlled toy car

If the guts of this thing looked halfway decent I'd show them to you, but believe me it's just a ton of wires, an ugly cradle and zip ties.
