Because it was such, sharing its own light with everyone and being generally benevolent dragon-like lifeform, until ancient inhabitants of Ultra Megalopolis decided to try to control it and accidentaly broke a vital part of The Blinging One, turning it into dark, light-dependent, agonizing wreck we know today.
