its a 20 sided dice, usually used in old school dungeons and dragons table top gaming. "taking twenty" means that you do the same thing over and over until you reach twenty on the die (essentialy your just saying that you will roll 20 eventually so your taking it). It gets annoying when you have some player that wants to take 20 on every search of a room you come accross it slows things down. maybe that will help
