ha, I was around summer of last year for a day or two, so let's not get carried away and say years! I'm keeping busy, that's for sure. working and starting medical school in the fall. what are you doing these days?

First of all, congratulations on going to medical school. As for me, my oldest son is now a senior in hs and the younger one, a hs sophomore. For the past two years I have been a volunteer with a new non-profit organization called Nomi Network, which is dedicated to fighting human trafficking (slavery), specifically sex slavery. We have a prototype project in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. For women who have been rescued from brothels, or are at risk of being trafficked, or just want to leave the sex industry, we provide job training and jobs. We try to sustain and expand the program by marketing the goods they make in the U.S. Our organizations website is www.nominetwork.org and the site where we sell the goofs made by survivors is www.buyherbagnotherbody.com -- yes our slogan and brand name is "Buy Her Bag Not Her Body."
Poverty is one of the fundamental causes of human trafficking, and once a woman get trapped in the sex industry, it is very difficult to get out. We are trying to economically empower women survivors.
Of course, we are trying to help children too, with education. One third of the prostitutes in Phnom Penh are minors.
We are headquartered in NYC, and we are always looking for more volunteers!

that's a very interesting line of work you're now in - and very important! unfortunately, no, not med school in NY - didn't even apply in NY. I did apply to two schools in Philly though, I'm on the waitlist at one and I have yet to hear from the other. I would love to live in a big city for a few years sometime, but not when I have to be so focused on studying all the time and can't go out and enjoy myself!

If you go to Philly, you will learn where the famous Philly Cheese steaks places are! I drove to Philly last year, to watch a basketball game at U. Penn. But first we went for philly cheese steaks (Pats & Ginos). When I drove into the actual city streets, I was like "woa, this is a real city.!" I kept expecting Rocky Balboa to step off the curb at any moment.

ha, yes. I have family just across the river in Cherry Hill, NJ so I have visited the area several times. They actually don't like Pat's OR Gino's - they say it's too grisly. They prefer the little hole in the wall places - they often have the best food!
