outch. small ears like panthers and their leopard veriants are lucky i guess? not as easy to get an unexpectedΒ piercing in battle. but who was the A-hole who shot that bullet?

One thing I noticed with the firearms-wielding cat-folk of yours: how do they retain their hearing? I hardly see them with ear protection?

Not a rule of cool, but ear protection typically prevents hearing much of anything. In actual combat, it's a tough sell.

Yeah, but a few musket shots will mess up ones hearing anyway (and may be permanently)... and i only thought of it because cat-folk should be more sensitive to loud noise, if their ears arenβt rule of cool too Β

By the way, as the poor cat from the back... shouldn't the helmet deflect the bullet?
I mean, I know that these weapons were armor-penetrators... but if I recall correctly, helmets where round-ish exactly to deflect bullets to a side.

A flat hit like that would punch right through the helmet with little resistance if it was a bit more off center yes it would probably bounce

Just one little qualm I have on the picture itself: The cat's pose is too relaxed IMO; it's more like posing for a photo studio than standing his ground for an incoming onslaught. Otherwise, good as always

Better the ear rather than the helmet! I'd also go and beat up the armorer, that helmet is worth about nothing if a bullet goes through one end, the entire skull and out on the other end without deviation! Or that was a much more modern bullet.

I know that feeling.
When you feel the air being displaced like a puff......hear it buzz by.......that was a close one.
In Nam I got caught by crossfire......literally watched tracers crossing about 4 meters in front of me as I fired back with the M60.
Dummy forgot to get down!
Finally got prone to return the best defense......copper wrapped lead projectiles going towards the threats.
Later I found four bullet holes in my clothes and two red line marks. One mark on my upper right arm the other on my inner right thigh.
Those were very close.......but not close enough.
A miss is still a miss.
