Description Ok, this sketch was just to figure out this pose and then I colored it for fun... I thin I'll make a "full" drawing out of this when I can, I really liked it! Β

I know the coloring is quite crappy and the anatomy is even worse, but it was a 30 minutes work after all.
(sorry for the bad quality, my camera can't handle colors really well)

Oh yeah, the flamberge definitely goes to this Khajiit!Β But will he have the strength to hold such a big sword?

0laffson In reply to Rybsasha [2015-11-04 16:29:47 +0000 UTC]

He's not a khajiit, just some kind of walking cat Β  Well, those blades were much lighter than it seems, I was surprised myself when I picked up one. They are terribly hard to use though...

Flamberge weights an average of about 4 kilograms.Β It is not very heavy sword.Β So even not strong cat can cope with him.Β But as far as I know, landsknechts distinguished with impressive physical strength that allowing them to defeat a mounted knight with their zweihΓ€nders and flamberges without any difficulty.Β

I guess that would hurt! Flamberges also increase the damage since the force of the strike is focused only on the "weaves"Β  XD

In my prime (12 years ago) it would take me 2 hours just to make the outline of that!
Well, maybe not that much, but I NEVER finished artworks during class; teacher was nice enough to let me get away with it and finish everything at home, which yielded some of the best artworks that "excuse of a class" had to offer.

Nice! The pose is good IMO. The aforementioned left arm isn't so bad, I would not have noticed were it not for comments, and seems like all it needs is the left wrist to be turned instead of straight.
Β (Hehe my Elder Scrolls characters were khajiit with big swords and no shirts, so bit of nostalgia here, believe it or not)

Thank you so much! Yep, the wrist is the problem... and maybe the arm is a bit too long.

haha it perfectly fits then! XD

Not exactly a sketch anymore is it?

The only thing I can say that's off in this picture is that he's standing a little to stiffly upright for the way he's holding his sword.

AudeS [2015-07-10 19:51:12 +0000 UTC]

Alright, this fella got himself a Flamberge.... a sword commonly used my mercenaries at the turn from the medieval period to... Early Modern Age? Alright, I go with that term. In any case, it would make sense that he has a lot of scars on his body as mercenaries using those weapons tended to fight on the front.... which reduced the chances of survival quite a bit. He does still look pretty young and confident.... perhaps in a naive and youthful way. But as a mercenary you may enjoy life while you still can, because you never know which job will be your last.
I do wonder, though. Does he get the double payment or is he in a disadvantage as a beastman?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

0laffson In reply to AudeS [2015-07-11 00:56:15 +0000 UTC]

Well, he usually uses a one handed sword, but I guess this time he got his hands on a flamberge ^^ And he is pretty young.

If he had to charge against a pike formation I'm sure he would have asked the double pay as everyone else, he hates not being treated fairly. And since soldiers specialized with those swords were not veeery common they would have probably hired him anyways.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AudeS In reply to 0laffson [2015-07-11 04:48:42 +0000 UTC]

Considering how dangerous that job is... more than
regular mercenary work at least, it wouldn't
surprise me, if there was a lack or people with
those weapons.

SteinWill [2015-07-10 18:52:36 +0000 UTC]

hmmm are those shaped swords any practical? they seem.. I don't know more fragile looking than a normal straight sword.
anyhow great looking sketchm the colouring is ofcourse subpar to your normal standard but, hey it's a super quick sketch ofcourse it can't look at pro as the ones you use weeks on

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

0laffson In reply to SteinWill [2015-07-11 00:35:10 +0000 UTC]

Very practical, actually ^^ The shape gives no kind of problem, it can even be an advantage in some casesΒ

Glad you like it mate! XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

AudeS In reply to SteinWill [2015-07-10 19:45:52 +0000 UTC]

Actually, this shape isn't even too unusual for a flame-bladed swords like the Flamberge. It's actually the reason behind their name and the weapon itself was often used by expensive mercenaries to counter warriors with pikes (hence the length). They were commonly used during the 16th century. It actually had no real disadvantage to my knowledge. They are of course longer and heavier, so only specialists with training could use them properly.
