Just a small sketch dump of Sa'jiir, the great lizard-folk of my fantasy setting. Though they are probably more like walking crocodiles / dinosaurs than lizard I guess. I've noticed that I've always drawn them way too similar to one another, so I was making some experiments with the shape of their faces and markings to try and make them more unique. I also definitely need to draw more of them and polish their culture.

The Sa'jiir are a species of large reptilian like creatures that mainly inhabit the central desertic regions of the continent. They can be up to 3 meters all, can live more than 250 years and they reach sexual maturity at roughly the age of 50. They are not cold-blooded, though their body temperature is quite lower than all other sentient species
Not much is known about their culture, but traditions and religion vary considerably from tribe to tribe. Most of them are extremely peaceful and travel the desert in caravans from oasis to oasis, buying and selling goods from the two ends of the desert. They are themselves known for their extremely intricate metalworks and jewelry.

Sa'jiir from the southern regions are much more aggressive. In recent centuries the desert has been getting drier and drier, with many oasis disappearing. This has caused a lot of tension between neighbouring tribes, with the Kahelir tribe rising victorious and uniting most others. The Kahelir-lead coalition then migrated south into more fertile lands, actively invading lands previously ruled by the dark-skinned humans of Adawa and the Ajshar (catfolk). The war between Sa'jiir and Ajshar in the south had been going on for more than 200 years, with the Ajshar constantly losing ground, until paler-skinned humans from the north managed to colonize the whole area and put an end to the strife.
