Description
IMPORTANT: This theme is no longer under development by myself. Get this fav.me/d6nnkk8 insteadTHIS IS ONLY FOR 3.6
Hello,
eOS is a GNOME Shell theme that gives your GNOME desktop an 'Elementary' feel.
I ported a lot of features from DanRabbit's mockups and actual eOS parts, like: Plank, Pantheon Shell, Wing Panel... My goal is to make the most accurate Elementary theme.
Known Bugs
- None. But I would appreciate it if actual elementary users compared this theme and their eOS to see if something is off. I want to have a 1:1 clone.
Changelog
10/10/2011: 1.2b
20/10/2011: 1.2b2
27/01/2012: 1.2
08/02/2012: 1.2.1
30/05/2012: 1.4
27/11/2012: 1.6
- Fixed for GNOME Shell 3.6.
This depends on: Droid Sans and Open Sans(light).
Ubuntu users can install this and/or a previous version from the Noobslab PPA(not officially supported by myself):
ppa:noobslab/themes

Are you thinking about porting this to 3.6?
Some suggestions:
elementary pantheon and eGTK has evolved a lot since this theme, it would be amazing to have this theme up to date with new desings.
A theme for new GDM 3.6 that matches this one would be AMAZING too.
I love the way elementary looks but I admit I prefer how gnome-shell 3.6 works, its wonderful, but with your help we can have the best from both worls
THANK YOU SO MUCH

Hi,
I'm interested to know what kind of changes Pantheon and eGTK have received since this version.
Also, sad news, GNOME Shell by design prevents changing the look of the Lock screen and GDM. So, we'll be stuck with the defaults.

There is a gui for customising GDM3.6 called Gnome Settings. Using it one can set (among other things) the shell theme used for GDM and the Lock screen. Faience and Zukitwo both work and successfully customise the lockscreen/GDM when chosen. (eOS can't be chosen, perhaps it has to be installed in some other location, to show up).
If your interested you could perhaps have a look at their .css to see, what is needed to customise GDM.
I love this theme, keep up the good work!

Do you have a link for this tool? The name is too generic to be found with a simple query.

gdm3setup seems to be the name of the package. Here are the links to github and the AUR.

[link] (assuming you're still using arch. .debs and .rpms also available)
Also, thank you very much for the extension list. Love this theme

Thank you. It would be amazing to have a GDM similar to your eOS or NORD design.

You're welcome!
I'll try to update the theme as soon as I can have 3.6 on my PC. Which has arrived yet(Arch Linux).

Is there a GTK3 theme that goes well with this?

There is the elementary's eGTK theme, and Orion. Even Adwaita could work(Adwaita-X-Dark).

Awesome! One question: How can I customize this theme, e.g. is there a .css file somewhere?

Every theme has a gnome-shell.css file inside.

Very nice theme. But sadly it slows down gnome quite a bit.

I've never had any issues with it, nor any reports like that. It could be the use of SVG's, not sure. :/

You should check the switches in the elementary lion shell. They seem to fit in better. Other than that, still an awesome gnome-shell theme and the one I currently use.

I think he means as a replacement for you on/off switches. Nonetheless, I prefer yours as they look more minimalistic.

Best theme out there, its a must have! lol
But i found a bug with media-player-indicator extension, the buttons are white instead of dark, its kind hard to see...
