This artwork was entered into a "Weapon of Choice" contest at:made in Cinema 4D R11
=tycho suggested i try to model this . it's a weapon in a video game called Dead Space
this was both fun and challenging for me to make . i need more practice with Splines

Practicing with splines, I dunno, looks like you did good. My one comment: BEVELLING! Nothing material has sharp edges, bevel/chamfer those rectangular edges and you'll augment the realism even more
Otherwise, congrats on the win! Your's is a first place though, so really, you still outdid me

The process of beveling in C4D is called Fillet. I filleted every edge that I thought needed it on this model. Almost every edge is rounded except the main guard pieces which I left flat because they're metal. That's not to say that I don't appreciate your opinions. It's just funny because I fillet everything I make. I do it much more often than I need to. But some pieces need to be flat with sharp edges.
Which piece did you enter to that contest? How's the Transformer episode remake going?

Even metal isn't sharp cut, that golden thingie on the gun needs a fillet I'm positive it does
