I think this is the Angel of Death...AzrealRelated content

"When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come and see!" I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hell was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth." - Book of Revelations
The Angel of Death has Hades following behind him. And while Hades means the underworld as well as the Lord of the Underworld, it is understood in very different terms by very many people. There will be people who dislike what you have to offer, but each person's point of view will be different no matter what. Blake's Angel of Death is a far cry different from that of Dante. So, while I cannot tell you if this is how I see an Angel of Death, I can say that I can see the effort you put into your piece and that much is commendable. Well done.

I would really like to redo this one actually, make him have more faces and have them break apart and disappear into his wings.
Thank you

I would be curious to see the re-make, I think.
The idea reminds me of some of the more transcendental ideas that Alex Gray had (multiple pupils in one eye, for example.) Death, in this case, is more amorphous and more fluid than what most people picture him as. The faces would represent the faces of the dead (or the faces of his human agents of death) instead of the face of death Himself. I find that concept interesting and would love to see you go on and run with it. You can never quite know what you might come up with.

This one came out a bit too bulcky and is looks too stiff, like it can't realy moove. (actually Alex Gray didn't do that one Cam de Leon did, really love his art and I think it's inspired me more then anyone elses.) Thank you ^^

I do agree with you, there is a lot of stored tension in the muscles of this figure that seemed to have paralyzed it. (Too much tension is not good for you, after all). It's a good idea to make the limbs a tad more limber and... flexible, I think, is the word I am looking for.
Thanks for correcting me on that one. It's time for me to look up Cam de Leon. He sounds like an awful interesting guy, too.

Well... I actually like the concept and the artwork in the gallery a lot.
My biggest problem with the site is that it's got too many bells and whistles. It makes browsing a tedious thing to do, at least for me. But the contents definitely make up for it.

I guess I am old and left-behind that way. (I -do- tell people I am a "recently-reformed Luddite"...). Some bells and whistles may be good, but I sometimes find them really quite annoying. If there are options, I usually choose the non-flash site, actually.

Don't get me wrong, I understand where your coming form, but to me the bells and whistles remind me of playing video games as a kid and finding a hidden level or secret spot, it's a fun feeling.

I used to be a fan of exploratory games (I remember "Myst" very fondly) and the exploratory parts to an RPG. But I am afraid I've turned to "beat-the-crap-out-of-people" type of versus games lately. I keep on thinking I don't have enough brain cells left to do everything I like to do and what I used to do...

Nothing wring with mindless violence, speaking of which there's a Ninja Gaiden 3 coming out in 2012! I'm quite excited. Perhaps you're just reverting them to more important things?

I am hoping that I'm using my brain cells to remember how to spell things like ibuprofen (Advil) and Atorvastatin (Lipitor). But considering the luck I've been having... something tells me those cells had gone to take an extended vacation...
Oh, now... Ninja Gaiden 3 is coming out next year? That's exciting news indeed. Thanks for passing that along!

Perhaps, perhaps. But it turns out that there are some things that I really should know. Not having the brain cells in the right place becomes a real problem, you know?
I know! I hope the third one would be just as fun.

Which is why I am actually really thankful that I've got good co-workers. They pick up my mistakes and call them out to me. It might sound annoying and demeaning, but Heaven help me... it's awful useful. Multiple brains are better than just this poor one in me head.

Well... sometimes attending doctors don't quite worry about the social graces. (Heck, they're surgeons, after all. They have a reputation to be mean...) But even that, it's still a good thing.
... besides, you learn a lot of new swear words of the local flavour. So far, "Jumpin' German Jesus" is my personal favourite...

118519 In reply to SinistrosePhosphate [2011-08-09 04:17:18 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm, good question. Well Lilith was the first to break sexual traditions and codes, but Eve was the first to seduce man, then again if Lilith was The Serpent then she seduced Eve before she seduced Adam...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SinistrosePhosphate In reply to 118519 [2011-08-10 01:42:45 +0000 UTC]
I tell people, there are no silly questions. My patients tend to like that one a lot.
You realise, when Lilith was first created, here was no sexual traditions and no moral codes. Eve was created as a mate to Adam so there's no such thing as "seduction". It's time to free your mind from the box (the word "Seduction" implies there was something wrong with the sexual act - and let's not forget this was before humans ate from the Tree of Knowledge!)
So... the Holy Mother of F*ck is contentious... I guess it depends on what you consider to be F*ck. If we're talking about the sexual act itself, the Holy Mother of F*ck is God himself!
And people wonder why I am no a deist...

Well... you see, there's always a "second part" to this line. I tell my patients "There are no stupid questions," and point to myself and say "Only stupid answers." People tend to like that a whole lot!
I'm gaining a bit of a comedian status at work. I wonder if that's a good thing?
Oh, wouldn't it be!
This is what I tell people - you can break down "good" and "Evil" all you want, but if you can move away from that simply victory than it's a null victory. We're imbued with the good and evil dichotomy for so long that some people think it's enough of a rebellion to just break apart the dichotomy. No, not nearly enough! Especially when we can some simple mental arithmetic we can derive God as the "Holy Mother of F*ck"...

I have had nurse who called me so I can talk to patients and their families. I find people appreciate a white-coat coming around and just talk to them. It gives people a nice, almost reassuring feeling. I think that's why I probably will never give up the white coat no matter how the rest of the profession changes. I've never been all that fashion conscious anyway... but the coat itself is therapy for the mind.
They are fun, aren't they? And while they might seem strange at the first look... they really aren't all that strange. And it's the mental arithmetic that's the really fun part!

I'm sure it is, makes people feel like they are being taken care of someone professional and trust worthy (as I'm sure you are, white coat or not.)
Ever think about righting it out in mathematical form? Just using the word that lead up to the conclusion instead of numbers.

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to 118519 [2011-09-05 20:45:13 +0000 UTC]
The white-coat itself is a symbol - and like any other symbols in the world it has, contained within itself, a lore and an archetype. Sometime I feel people are reacting to the coat as much as they are reacting to me (I've tried it once - went to work without a coat. Some of the nurses don't recognise who I am.) I suppose my profession is one of care - and care we must provide. If donning a (rather useful, mind) coat adds another layer to the care process, why not?
I have math anxiety... I don't think I've ever tried anything more than just simple derivatives when it comes to mental arithmetic. I am sure, however, there are other folks out there who are a lot better at this than I am. Indeed, the metaphysicians of old are quite adept in solving the world's problems using mental arithmetic. Yours truly is simply not one of them, that's all.

I have had people recognise me outside of the hospital and outside of the coat, actually. So I guess it's not just the clothing they are reacting to. But I know it makes a difference - sometimes a big difference. The nursing school is conducting a research project about the patient's reaction to the nurses when they have to wear a uniform. It's taking place right now. I am sure the result will come back that the patients like nurses in uniforms better - and really, if the patients have a say, they might say that they want to see the doctors in a white coat, too!
There's nothing wrong with mental arithmetic. And as much as I say I have math anxiety I used to do pretty good in math when I am in school. I think it's all a matter of preference and practice - like everything else in the world.

It's a good thing for the doctors to look official.
I call it psychological warfare, really. If you look calm, collected and official - the patients will have more inherent trust in you and what you are talking about when dealing with their health. My hope is that they will take the medical advise more (like stop smoking, for example). So far... I am waiting to see it work.
Nothing wrong with that one at all! Good luck, old bean.

I'd have to agree with you on that (and also, yes, they are built like mazes...for some odd and confusing reason. My mother actually wondered one and found all the secret short cuts while I was in intensive care as a baby.) Good lock to you on that one Old Sport.
It's working too, I've brought my math grade up after only a bit of studying...though that studying was done in my Sociology class...but our teacher is a very dry and long winded man who only teaches the class about 3 things a day in our two hours with him because he repeats himself so much. Plus it's just the basic things that I still remember from high school.

Thank you, old bean; thank you very much. Really... there are a lot of internal politics and psychosocial warfare at work in a hospital - we just don't always recognise them as such, that's all. But when it comes to hospitals... yes, they are all built like mazes. It's deplorable!
... although, finding secret passage ways can be fun...
Oh, is that right? That's good to hear. I used to sit in one class and doodle while the professors drone away. I suppose practicing math is a more productive way to pass the time? And there's nothing wrong with that, either.

It's a good visual cue to know who is supposed to be doing what.
And it gives the patients a peace of mind - the hospital is a crowded and confusing place (they're all built like mazes, if you ask me...) and because of that, any sort of visual cues can calm the patient down. It's good psychology put to use, if you ask me,
... ah, is that right? Well... good luck with that, old bean. But please count me out!
