Description
Fans of Sesame Street have complained that Elmo's prominent status has caused roles to be greatly reduced for some older characters, such as Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird, Count Con Count, Grover, and Cookie Monster. Some fans also blame Elmo for the permanent departure of Kermit the Frog from Sesame Street. Elmo has been referred to as the "Little Red Menace" by Sesame Street traditionalists.Soho Urban Artist colored Pencils (Jerry's Artarama Art Supplies house brand) on 8"x11" Bristol

I did him for the lady who works the news paper store I stop at.
I showed her some of my stuff and she wanted Elmo.

I am a traditionalist - never liked Elmo, but when he became hugely popular, of course he started to receive more air time - I'm sure it helped sell more "Tickle Me Elmo" dolls. I actually watched Sesame street as a child of the 70s - Grover was my favorite when I was a young-un (I could identify with him ). By the time I had kids - Barney (oldest now at 21), Blues Clues (middle at 19 now) and teletubbies (youngest at 16 now) were their favorites when my boys were very young; they never watched Sesame Street.
I was also a huge fan of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood (one of the greatest men to have ever blessed our planet!) and the Electric Company. I remember when both Morgan Freeman and Rita Moreno were regulars on that show!

Check out Gene London here on You tube, if you have never seen him.

Nice clip about him. He is much like a pre-cursor to Mr. Rogers in a number of ways!

I think even today's kids would have liked watching Gene London draw his stories.

I was a kid of the early 60's and living in NJ we got to watch "Cartoon corners general store" with Gene London as the host. He would tell Fairy Tales
and draw them at the same time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Lon…
My son, your generation, watched Sesame Street, the muppet show and loved the original transformers cartoons.
My daughter born in the 80's watched all kinds of things but like Alf the most of anything.
I did this drawing for a lady who works in my local News Paper store that I stop in every day. She said it made her day, today when she got it.

Cool, I had not heard of him before.
You must have seen Aurora models then on the store shelves. In the early 70's, I had a couple of their glow in the dark ones (including their werewolf). They are of course long gone now. One model I wish I still had was a Monogram Snoopy on his dog house as the flying ace. It was battery powered too. If you find them on ebay, they are worth quite a lot!

I had every Aurora monster model they put out and most of them I had several copies. The were a very expensive $0.89 when I made my first creature from the black lagoon. I wish I still had my giant Frankenstein's monster, that thing was cool.

Awesome! I've built the licensed versions of wolfman, dracula, frankenstein, the munsters, and my son did the mummy. Also did the forgotten prisoner and ghost of castle mare.
Moebius still makes the big Frankies - the hobby shop I go to had one in stock forever. I really like Moebius kits - I picked up their death dealer that just came out, and later this year they are releasing a grim reaper model which I plan on getting.

I remember building the Musters Living room and the Addams Family house with the moving parts.
They were priced some were between $1.50 to $2.00 as I remember, but well worth it to a kid.
