Remus, his father, was a pure-bred GSD that lived in a wealthier household. He had been born the son of two show dogs with an extensive and impressive bloodline. In his home, he enjoyed warm fires in the winter and fun in the sun during the summers. However, he'd not seen a great deal of the outside world. Upon finding a loose board in the fence, Remus snuck out often to explore. That's when he met Lyra.
Lyra, Rex's mother, was a stray, dumped by her parent's owners for her lack of black-markings and "useless" agouti coat. She lived her life on the streets happily, however, and grew in intelligence and tongue. By the time she met Remus, she was a smooth talker and charmed him with her boldness.
